This spring, one of my biggest dreams came true: I got a book deal. After years of writing—and another 18 months working on a proposal—Harmony Publishers picked up my prescriptive memoir, The Selfish Wife.

In the thralls of all things Faherty and all things motherhood, I knew the only way I could sneak in some writing was if I fled my children, domestic duties, and NYC. When my dear friend, , mentioned she’d be in Morocco for a few months working on a book of her own, the vision was clear: Book the flight.

I landed in Marrakech with lofty ambitions and a suitcase overflowing with Faherty. After a joyful reunion, Noor and I faced a question: Could two female entrepreneurs—both of whom work with their husbands—visit a country beloved for its art, food, and shopping and actually write? Or would we be so entranced by Morocco’s glory, we’d quickly forget our oh-so-productive plans? The answer was... somewhere in the middle. But it all was perfect.

Recently our unstoppable Director of Global Sustainability Lisa Diegel spoke at the Fashion Act March in Albany on behalf of Faherty. Can you spot Rosario Dawson listening with pride? The Fashion Sustainability and Social Accountability Act (Fashion Act) introduces groundbreaking regulations. It mandates traceability in supply chains, sets carbon reduction goals, enhances worker conditions, and promotes transparency in wages and materials.

INTRODUCING FAHERTY x ANNA KAHALEKULU
Our newest Native design partner, Anna Kahalekulu tells stories through sustainable fashion and weaves Hawaiian culture into each garment. Her designs reference traditional Hawaiian fashion as well as Native foliage prints and kapa (bark cloth) patterns. Anna comes from a long line of Hawaiian weavers, sewers, and quilters.

For our collaboration, Anna drew inspiration from the Native naupaka plant, a flower with all of the petals on one side. One species, naupaka kahakai, grows by the sea and another, naupaka kuahiwi, grows on the mountain. “The two plants represent Faherty’s connection to the ocean and my shop in upcountry Maui,” she explains.

A snowflake falls in May! Fellow surfer, supporter, and one of our favorite musicians ever Eddie Vedder rocking (quite literally) our Sunwashed Chambray Shirt.

We asked co-founder to give us thoughts on Mother’s Day, and instead of singing the praises of how selfless mothers can be, she wrote a poem encouraging all mothers to be more selfish. “THIS,” she says, “is the true assignment.” Swipe right to read.
