Robert, Julie and Rick will share how robust engagement informed the project’s mission and vision to inspire the Dougherty Arts Center’s design as Austin’s “Cultural Living Room,” a community hub for creativity that provides access to the arts for all.

The 'Ocho' at Mueller Austin's Jessie Andrew’s Park, represents a beautiful collaboration between artist, fabricator and architect. Alongside the extraordinarily talented Dixie Friend Gay - Artist, Stanley Studio and Blue Genie Art Industries, the project team worked together to realize a cinematic vision for all to enjoy.

"Drawing from the classic horror movies of the 1950’s and 1960’s, Ocho is part menacing monster, part Jules Verne creation ready to engulf its next prey. Manufactured locally the piece is composed of hand bent steel, laser cut sheet metal, and painted foam. LED lights behind the eyes give it undersea life." -Dixie Friend Gay
