Sending prayers to our Baltimore brothers on the loss of three firefighters earlier today. Lt. Paul Butrim, Firefighter Kelsey Sadler, and Firefighter Kenny Lacayo all died as a result of their injuries sustained while battling the fire, Mayor Brandon Scott said.

Christmas time is here! Toy donations can be dropped off at our stations 1295 S. Cap of Tx Hwy or 1109 Westlake Drive. Donations can also be made online at Brownsanta.org. Travis County Sheriff's Brown Santa program is a 501(c)3 non-profit organization that is sponsored by the Travis County Sheriff’s Office. The program provides assistance with gifts and food during the holiday season to families and elderly citizens in Travis County primarily living outside the geographic city limits of Austin. 🎄
Thank you to the HEB in Westlake for helping keep our stations stocked with food and water during the Feb. Snow storms. This allowed WFD to focus on serving our community. We thank you and your staff.

First responders honor Westlake firefighter with funeral procession A line of fire engines followed trucks from the Oakhill Fire Department, Lake Travis, Pedernales and Austin, flashing their lights through Lakeway to say goodbye to one of their own.
If you are in the Lakeway area today, please be mindful: the procession and funeral for Westlake Fire Department Lieutenant Chris Askew, who passed away on Mother's Day after a brief battle with cancer, will take place this afternoon. Services are at 2:00 p.m. at Emmaus Catholic Parish (1718 Lohmans Crossing Road); the procession to the church begins at 1:00 p.m.
We ask you to please pack your patience and say a prayer for Lieutenant Askew, his wife and two children, all of their family, their friends, and his brothers and sisters at the Westlake Fire Department as they celebrate Chris's life and mourn his death.
We'll see you on the top floor, Chris. Rest in peace, brother.

The Westlake Professional Firefighters Association, Local 4147, presented a check in the amount of $2,987.42 to the Ronald McDonald House Charities of Central Texas. The Westlake Fire Department held it's annual award banquet in January. Among those honored, Fire Achievement Award Winners: Firefighter Jason Risinger, Firefighter Trent McClain, Engineer Ben Rife, and Firefighter Ben Williams. Jason Risinger was awarded Firefighter of the Year. And this year the recipient of the Mike Elliott Leadership award was Assistant Chief David Wilson. Congratulations gentlemen.
