Featured Registration - Derek Drinkwater’s 1950 Cadillac 61 series Spyder, a detailed recreation of the race car originally built by Briggs Cunningham and raced at Le Mans in 1950 - nicknamed “Le Monstre” by the French, who loved the Cadillac and cheered madly at every pass. Le Mans rules allowed rebodying of standard automobiles, and so Grunman Aircraft was tapped to build the unusual aluminum "streamliner” shape to reduce weight and wind resistance. UK-based Derek has painstakingly recreated this car by hand, and raced it. The best part? He is driving the Monster across the US, starting in Daytona Beach and going all the way to the west coast to race at Laguna Seca - stopping off in Austin along the way at the Lonestar Round Up - safe travels, Derek and we can’t wait to see you in Texas!
