Our Story
Longhorn Pancakes for Parkinson's is an annual event held in support of the Michael J. Fox Foundation. The event is held at Gregory Plaza and for just a small price, attendees can enjoy pancakes outside with their fellow longhorns. The event was started here to support Dr. James Vick, a mathematics professor and former Vice President for Student Affairs. His presence on campus has been very impactful and his diagnosis of Parkinson's meant something to his thousands of students. Pancakes for Parkinson’s was founded with the idea that the Round Table organizations could bridge their efforts to support Dr. James Vick and fight for a Parkinson’s cure. Hundreds of members of Round Table organizations and student athletes come together and volunteer to flip pancakes for their fellow longhorns in the central hub of UT, Gregory Plaza. All students are invited to enjoy pancakes, share their own experiences with Parkinson’s, and donate to Parkinson’s research. Pancakes for Parkinson's hopes to spread awareness of the disease and pledges to donate 100% of the donations to the Michael J. Fox foundation.
