One of the many advantages to being a homeowner is the ability to build equity in your home. That equity can be unlocked using a home equity loan, or HEL, and can serve as a useful tool when you want to finance other life goals!

đ¨ If you get a random payment and someone asks you to send it back, it's probably a scam. The fraudster likely used a stolen credit card or bank account to send the money, and if you return it, it'll just go to their personal account.
Once the real owner reports the theft, that cash will be taken out of your account. Stay smart and stay safe!

According to an article by Consumer Finance, phishing scams about mortgages have been on the rise for almost a decade!
"Reports of these attempts have risen 1,100 percent between 2015 and 2017, and in 2017 alone, there was an estimated loss of nearly $1 billion in real estate transaction costs."
As scammers get more clever make sure you stay up-to-date on how to make sure you don't fall victim to their tricks.
We take team building to a new level đ

Thank you to everyone who made our second Affordability Summit a success! We were all so excited to be able to sit down with Mayor Kirk Watson and our panel of experts to discuss affordable housing in Central Texas. Every year, we aim to gain more insight and take actionable steps toward making housing more affordable for our community. We can't wait to see you next year!
LAST CHANCE!
Join Amplify Credit Union on Thursday, May 23, for the second annual Central Texas Affordability Summit. Thatâs when leaders from across the region will convene to understand the progress our community is making to address affordability and delve into the housing sector, highlighting promising solutions to expand the supply of housing Central Texans can afford.
The event will include a fireside chat between Austin Mayor Kirk Watson and Amplify CEO Kendall Garrison. In addition, Amplify Chief Experience Officer Stacy Armijo will moderate a panel exploring how Austinâs largest school district plans to use vacant properties for teacher housing; how a tiny home community in Round Rock is now affordable for police officers, firefighters and frontline workers; and whether Austinâs underutilized commercial properties could become much-needed residential inventory.
This conversation is not designed to reiterate that we have an affordability problem in Central Texas, but instead focus on how we can all be part of the solution.

âPrior to working with Amplify, Claypool pitched the affordable community idea to at least six major financial institutions, but was turned away each time.â
While other institutions around Austin recognized what an asset Claypoolâs vision would be, the support wasnât there.
After hosting an affordability summit earlier this year, we saw the mountains Joseph and Stephanie were facing for our community and we knew we were working on the same problem. We were both working on the same mountain.
