Our restoration of Woodside Manor recaptures the original character for the restoration of this transitional family home.

The design focuses on rich layering of textures and curated vintage finds incorporated with new custom comforts. Custom elements abound, with meticulous attention to detail evident in every fixture and furnishing. The transitional style serves as a unifying thread, gracefully connecting the old and the new.

Last month, Laura was invited to share her expertise about incorporating art into interior design with an incredible panel of peers at Dallas Design Week.

Hosted by Dallas Market Design at Dallas Market Center, the group (Billy Fong of PaperCity Dallas, Ginger Hartford of EurDesign Studio , Sarah Hargrave of The Collective Dallas, and Courtney McGrail) showed how art is an integral part of each project and something that should be considered from day one.

Umbreen Ahmad's Abstract Art

"I approach art as a safe place, it offers me boundless opportunities to make sense of the chaos around and the thoughts within. A daily practice in self-discovery and an open path to gratitude. I lean on the vibrancy of colors, softness of blending and dimensionality of texture and visible strokes to express and invoke emotions." - Umbreen Ahmad

Umbreen Ahmad is a Muslim-American abstract artist. She grew up in Pakistan and moved to Houston, Texas at a young age. At nineteen, a serendipitous decision led her to start painting. In 2002 new beginnings brought her to Austin, where she continued to paint and started a family. She is elated to call Austin her home, a city alive with color, culture, compassion, and those much-needed vibes helping us Keep Austin Weird. She credits her children, family, and her tribe of friends for many things, but more so for motivating her, in her art and other adventures in life.

In addition to attending Paris Design Week, and getting inspiration from the best of Parisian interiors and shops, Laura, Shaunn, and Hayley concluded their trip with a lovely visit to their clients' new home overlooking the French Riviera. This site visit was just the beginning of our incredible redesign of this spectacular four-story villa.

Between meetings to assess the home's current condition and mapping out its future, they were also fortunate to draw further inspiration from the famed coastal city and surrounding areas.

Adding bold colors to your home can transform a space—elevating the ambiance and overall impact of the design. The living room of our Musket Rim project is both vibrant and inviting.

: Paulette Pearson

Paulette Pearson, a native of Arkansas, is a colored pencil artist known for capturing whimsy and humor in her drawings. Her work blends artistic skill with storytelling, showcasing originality, authenticity, and depth.

Growing up on a ranch in Arkansas, she was influenced by her mother’s artistry and received colored pencil sets from her grandmother, fostering her love for the medium. After pursuing a career in journalism and law, Paulette transitioned to full-time artist.

Paulette emphasizes the importance of finding reliable tools that streamline her artistic process, such as Prismacolor Premier colored pencils for their smooth application and blendability, and Strathmore Drawing paper for its smooth surface, a preference stemming from her love for control in art.

Her work combines realism with imaginative elements to create narratives that blur the lines between reality and fantasy.

Embracing the open concept, our design at The Montgomery fosters a vibrant sense of community, blending style, comfort and functionality.

Soft blues, emerald greens, and rich terracotta tones complement the picturesque view of the resort-style pool and courtyard, enhancing the spacious feel.

Floating Jewel: A Lake Austin Home Mirrors the Fluidity of the Water Floating walkways, curved glass walls, and a butterfly roof mimic the movement of the water encircling this luminous Lake Austin property.

: Clair Gaston

A lifelong painter, art instructor, and native Texan, Clair has spent over 20 years painting and teaching in Central Texas. With a BFA and MFA in Painting and Drawing, her work centers around natural subjects, oil painting, and botanical illustration. Her influences range from Dutch still life paintings to traditional and contemporary botanical artists, plants, gardening, and daily life.

Clair’s passion for art and the environment blossomed in her childhood, evolving into a unique artistic vision that bridges art and science. She believes that art captures the visual essence of nature and conveys our emotional connection to it. Through her detailed botanical illustrations and oil paintings, Clair expresses the intricate stories found in everyday natural elements.

Clair’s work aims to inspire others to appreciate and protect the natural world, advocating for its preservation through art and education. She emphasizes the importance of observation, much like a scientist, to inspire genuine creativity.

A cool area designated for food storage before use—traditionally where raw meat was covered in fat (larded) for preservation before the advent of modern refrigeration.

In contemporary homes, a larder now serves as the ideal organizational space in a kitchen. Consider our newly finished Hillside Hideaway as an example. It offers ample storage for dry goods and kitchen appliances, and can be neatly closed off from view.
