From the Associated Press (AP): "Biden will not participate in any of the observances at 9/11 memorial sites in New York City, Virginia or Pennsylvania. Instead, the president will stop in Alaska for a Sept. 11 observance at Joint Base Elmendorf-Richardson in Anchorage on his way back to Washington after a trip to Asia." How do most Americans feel about POTUS breaking from tradition and observing 9/11 remotely? #9/11

What do you think about the buzz around emerging technologies? Artificial Intelligence (AI) has been garnering many headlines in recent months. In general, my opionion is that the concern around disruption and having to "change or adapt", which most of us are loath to do, is overdone. Technology moves quicker than we can process. Its tough to make predictions, especially about the future (thanks Yogi Berra) but I feel we should not fear the robots.........yet. Productivity gains and ripple effects are impossible to even guesstimate. On a side note......Where is the much ballyhooed recession? Maybe folks underestimated post-China flu pent up demand. Deep respect for Ed Yardeni, rolling recession!!
Nvidia is the 'picks and shovels leader in the AI gold rush' that could expand its market share as competition heats up, Bank of America says Nvidia is one of the biggest beneficiaries of the AI race that is starting to heat up, according to Bank of America. The bank said Nvidia offers investors exposure to the AI market like picks and shovels did during the gold rush.
It's a bird. It's a plane. It's Monkeypox! I believe that a recession is likely somewhere down the road. A 2nd lockdown or exogenous shock from another pandemic could certainly shorten the trip. This pox doesn't seem to be a threat to the global economy. As always, we are on "recession watch" and my feeling is that the market will recover and do reasonably well this year. Watch the P's and hope they stay within a reasonable range: Petroleum, Putin, Pox, Prices, PMI, P______?

Earnings are the Mother's milk of stocks. Little reported that S&P earnings are up, but very important to keep the earnings momentum going. Given pent up demand and strong consumer and business balance sheets, not to mention inventory rebuilding, the economy looks to be in pretty good shape. The trillion dollar question remains. Can the Fed thread the needle on raising rates and get control of inflation?? What do you think?
US Earnings Outlook the Envy of the World Thursday, March 31, 2022 Stocks have rallied back nicely over the past couple of weeks, with the S&P 500 up more than 10% off its March 14 low. While some would suggest that the market is sniffing out a potential compromise to end Russia's military aggression in Ukraine, which is certainly possible,...
Most have seen the Progressive Corp commercials that are "painfully relatable", particularly the "Becoming your parents" theme. Well, here it goes. I could have chosen a fun inflation story, a piece on the Super Bowl indicator and how the market has faired, or a review of possible Russian economic sanctions. Instead, I want to acknowledge Library Lover's Month. Great resources all over the CLE. Take a kid, grandkid, neighbor kid, church kid, or just go!! Pages are easier on the eyes in some cases. Unsung heroes working in our libraries too!! Thank the quiet heroes and thanks Mom and Grandma for instilling the love for the library! Inflation will still be a"trending" topic next month!!! .org
