We're painting miniatures this week at Sam Garcia Library!

Teens, stop by the library to paint some RPG miniature figures that you get to take home! We'll have a variety of unique characters to choose from. All supplies provided. Ages 13-17. Registration not required.

Join us NEXT Saturday August 17th at 2pm as we celebrate National Honey Bee Day with our friend and Master Beekeeper Connie Moore! She’ll be doing a live demonstration with the hive and a delicious honey sampling 🥳 We hope to see you there!

Cross Stitch 101 starts Tuesday August 13th and there are still a few spots open! If you’re interested in learning to cross stitch, sign up and join the class! Día de los Mu***os Storytelling at Sam Garcia Library (All Ages)
Saturday, August 24, 2024 at 2 p.m.

Día de los Mu***os is a highly celebrated and significant holiday held throughout Mexico, Latin America, and the Southwest. It is a day when homage is paid with prayers, offerings of food and the building of altars to those who have gone before us. Join Zarco Guerrero and his unique masked characters as they celebrate Día de los Mu***os (Day of the Dead) with hilarious and moving storytelling, turning stereotypes on their heads. Among the characters making appearances are the poetry spouting “El Vato Poeta,” the flirtatious “La Comadre,” the wise “El Abuelito,” and other beloved characters that Guerrero, a prolific playwright, has created to express the humor and sadness of our lives. Guerrero’s storytelling puts life into perspective in a delightful and engaging way, helping us accept and even laugh at our most primal fears about death.

Library for All did an awesome program this month! Ms. Lauri and Ms. Gina read with our friends from Dinosaurs vs. Knights and then they all crafted their own own goblets! 🦖👑⚔️

Library for All is a program geared towards adults with developmental and intellectual disabilities and their caregivers. It’s on the first Thursdays of the month at Civic Center Library. Please call the library if you have questions or need more information.

We were able to raffle off many family packs of tickets or individual tickets or sets of tickets to these amazing places! We hope our library friends enjoyed the event and will enjoy these prizes and have an amazing time at the various places they’ll get to visit.

Summer reading is coming to an end in a few days. You have until August 1st to log your 1000 minutes and until August 15 to select your book! You can pick up prizes until September 15th (or while supplies last).

We'll be doing 3 different hands-on science experiments. These activities are geared toward ages 5-12 but younger siblings are welcome with the help of their caregiver.

Explore your SMART side with a variety of STEAM (Science, Technology, Engineering, Arts, and Mathematics) activities from painting and crafting to building and robotics.

Civic Center Library held a superhero coloring contest in June and after counting hundreds of votes these are the top three winners! Please DM us if you’re the Artist (or parent/guardian of the Artist) of one of these masterpieces! Congratulations to the contest winners! And thanks to all of our Library Friends who submitted their best work!

Sam Garcia Library will be running a 2 hour encounter. All experience levels welcome! Beginners encouraged to join. Bring dice if you got them or use ours.

Ages 10-12 are invited to Music Bingo at Sam Garcia Library tomorrow Tuesday, July 23 at 4 pm!

Tween Club at Sam Garcia Library is a program designed for individuals who are no longer considered children but are not yet teenagers. This club offers a variety of activities such as crafting, gaming, DIY, and more. Participants can engage in fun and age-appropriate activities while also socializing with others in their age group.

Whether you're looking to explore your creative side or simply want to hang out with peers, Tween Club is the perfect place for you.

2nd and 4th Tuesdays 4-5 p.m. For ages 10-12.

We have some exciting news! Today at 1:30PM join us at the Civic Center Library for a fun & informational FREE event.

Join Tanya at the for a dual presentation with the City of Avondale, water conservation coordinator. SRP presents energy efficiency and Amber from City of Avondale provides water conservation tips.

There will be up to 3 unique codes and shaved ice at this event!

Who doesn't want to enjoy a FREE cool delicious shaved ice treat after learning how you could save some money on your energy bill and water bill this summer?

Grab your dance shoes and head on down to the Civic Center Library on Monday July 22nd, 2024 at 4pm. Pete the Cat is joining us and he's going to be busting out his BEST dance moves and will be ready to see our library friends breaking it down with their best moves too!

Family Storytime will get FUNKY! for our Groovy Dance Party! Pete is one GENEROUS Groooovy Cat and he will be passing out some back to school goodies to our library friends (while supplies last)! See you there!

Civic Center Library will be closing early on July 27th 2024 at 3pm to prepare for the End of Summer Reading Program Celebration: Wonka Rave.
