Mandated reporting is vital for helping professionals, yet we rarely explore best practices beyond legal and ethical obligations. How can we integrate trauma understanding, racial disproportionality in child welfare, the importance of relationships, and ethical, evidence-based practices into our legal duties? This training session will address these questions and more.
Some of the training highlights include:
- Alternatives to Mandated Reporting: Learn innovative approaches to prevent child maltreatment, promote family preservation, and maintain client engagement.
- Critical Examination: Assess the legal and ethical implications of mandated reporting, considering its impact on families and the broader professional landscape.
- Holistic Approach: Discover ways to incorporate trauma-informed practices and address racial disproportionality in child welfare.
Join us to explore how we can balance our professional responsibilities with our commitment to ethical and effective practice! https://naswmn.socialworkers.org/Events/Events-Calendar/NASW-MN-Calendar/ArtMID/38670/ArticleID/4073/Mandated-Reporting-through-a-Trauma-Responsive-and-Racial-Justice-Lens
Attention social workers!π’ Our Licensure Exam Review Prep Course helps you prepare for your social work licensure exam by reviewing its structure and content, as well as strategies for test-taking. This includes reviewing sample questions and learning how to correctly interpret them, and learning how to avoid the most common pitfalls in order to increase your competence and confidence.
This course does not review specific content areas in depth; rather, it outlines the areas of knowledge, skills, and aptitudes that are covered on the exam, and discusses how you may asked about those areas on the exam.
This course is for ALL exam categories; Bachelors, Masters, Advanced Generalist, and Clinical.

Hereβs the scoop on current Provisional Licensure requirements, and the new ones starting in October
Now β Until Oct. 1, 2024 β Those who speak English as a second language and were foreign-born, and who have taken the exam at least once and not passed, can apply for Provisional now. You would have to do 37.5 hours of supervision over 1-3 years in place of passing the exam. If you donβt meet these requirements, donβt start an application until the NEW requirements begin.
The NEW Provisional requirements beginning Oct. 1, 2024 β This path will open to anyone with a social work degree, and you donβt have to even attempt the exam if you donβt want to (itβs okay if youβve tried it and not passed, but you donβt have to do this first any longer). You will start a NEW application once the Board of Social Work opens it up closer to Oct. 1st. You would have to do 37.5 hours of supervision over 1-3 years in place of passing the exam.
Contact the MN Board of Social Work for more information.

Attention Fellow Social Workers! π
As we continue to navigate the challenges of COVID-19, it's crucial to support those most vulnerable, especially individuals with chronic illnesses. As an Ambassador for the "Connect to End COVID-19" vaccine confidence initiative, Iβm reaching out to share how we can all make a difference:
π· Become a Vaccine Champion: If youβre already vaccinated, share your experience with your clients and colleagues. Personal stories can significantly encourage others to get vaccinated.
π· Engage in Empathetic Conversations: Use resources from the CDC to talk to your clients about getting vaccinated. Listen to their concerns and provide accurate information.
π· Address Misinformation: Combat myths by cross-checking vaccine information with reliable sources like the CDC. Educate your clients on how to identify credible information and debunk misinformation.
π· Share Your Story: Share your vaccination story on social media and within your networks. Use COVID-19 vaccination stickers and frames available on CDC.gov to spread the word.
Despite the overall downward trend in COVID-19 hospitalizations and deaths, only 17% of eligible people nationwide have received an updated booster dose. Staying informed about new vaccines and treatments is vital, especially for those with chronic illnesses. The FDA has recently approved new vaccines and treatments, including Novavax and Pemgarda, a medication for immunocompromised individuals.
Our work isnβt over yet! Letβs continue to support each other and stay informed. For more information on how you can help and access resources, visit

Together, we can build a healthier, safer community for our clients and ourselves.
