We recently arranged shipment of 5,000 lbs of canned AK salmon to the remote village of Savoonga, on St. Lawrence Island, home to 800 people who live closer to Russia than the rest of the US. The acting mayor of Savoonga, which faced a food shortage this winter due to difficult hunting conditions, noted that as volunteers came to the airport to transport the cans via snowmachine, she felt "hopeful and excited" to share the salmon especially with the children in her community. We were honored to work alongside PSPA and ASMI Food Aid to arrange this shipment and owe big thanks to OBI, Silver Bay and Trident Seafoods for their seafood donations and AK Air Cargo and NSEDC for freight donations.

Jim and Hannah Slotnick Lindoff were in Anchorage last week and met chef and CEO Scott Lingle for an amazing tour of the newly expanded and Children's Lunchbox. Tour highlights included Wild Alaska Po***ck fish sticks as part of the nutritious hot lunch that day, the state of the art smoker ready for some salmon and sampling the incredible Motley Crew Bakery cookies! Excited to share more seafood with Beans Cafe !
