💨 Aerosol cans—many of the products found inside aerosol cans can be toxic and may contain flammables, such as butane, as propellants.

Not sure whether to toss it or take it to a special waste facility? Check to see if the can is labeled with words like TOXIC or FLAMMABLE. Before tossing any aerosol can in the trash, be sure the can is empty.

Batteries that get tossed in the trash can start fires that harm workers, machines, & sanitation trucks. Batteries and other household hazardous waste items can be taken to any of our Kern County disposal sites or any of our (3) Kern County special waste facilities for free and proper disposal.

The Bakersfield Special Waste Facility is located at 4951 Standard St, Bakersfield, California. The facility is open from 8 a.m. to 4 p.m. Tuesday through Saturday and closed Sunday and Monday.

Check out the free “Stop 'n' Shop” Program which is only available at the Bakersfield Special Waste Facility. It can save you money on the purchase of items and it reduces the cost of disposing of perfectly good products. The Stop 'n' Shop is open from 9 a.m. to 1 p.m. on Thursdays, Fridays, and Saturdays.
