I tend not to post a lot of my pictures on IG. I think I get in my head because the things I like to photograph aren't always super interesting to other people. V***r suspended in the air, slugs clinging to a vine, birds preening... It's always the little mundane details of everyday life that make me want to take pictures.

I'm trying to stop seeing every single social platform as something I need to put serious work and effort into. I think I'm going to try and post more of this random stuff on my feed. Hopefully it'll brighten someone else's day, too.

It’s a shame there really isn’t a market for vulture glamour pics, because I absolutely love taking pictures of our little flock. I love the way the light plays over their shiny black feathers, especially at dawn and golden hour. I love the contrast between slick feathers, soft “hairs”, harsh wrinkles, and scaly talons.

And while it can be tempting to leave these photos unedited or to take a light hand on the editing to let their natural beauty shine, a part of me really enjoys tweaking these photos a lot. I try to avoid edits that are too “horror” or macabre, but instead focusing on the dichotomy of the bird, fulfilling such a vital yet undesirable position in the food chain.

One of the problems with being your own photographer is having to keep track of a maddening number of lights, angles, reflections, and shadows… and still inevitably forgetting something 😂

Growing up I always thought I was Mary, but perhaps I am more of a Colin (with a spot of Dickon) . Perhaps it's time to revisit The Secret Garden now that I'm older, and more understanding of my gender.

The Daystar returned for the first time in days, causing an Indiana Jones-esque face melting scene, but at least the Mimosa loves it

My garden is really showing off for golden hour today

Woke up feeling rather cryptid; decided the only sensible thing to do was lean into it rather hard with this dress from Violet Fane.

Got two new tarot decks too and I'm rather thrilled with the aesthetics of both decks.

This is Beepus, one of my favorite members of the flock of that frequents our yard. The genders are visually almost identical, so me calling him by male pronouns is just a general "feeling," and he does have rather large wings. Slightly larger wingspan is the only major difference.

Regardless, Beepus will let me stand almost directly next to him, making him remarkably easy to photograph. In this instance, I was about 15 feet away, as I wanted him at ease enough to preen. I prefer to capture in the way I photograph other birds, rather than sensationalizing their gory, gross, or sinister associations.

They are d***y little sweethearts, and without them we would have many more plagues.

Can I still beat the first game I ever beat as a child? Let's find out!

I just got this brush in my boxycharm and I'm super excited to use it! I sometimes struggle with brushes because I lack fine motor control in my fingertips because of my small fiber neuropathy, but since I can hold this closer to the palm of my hand, it's WAY easier! So glad more companies are branching out into different styles of brush, because it's a huuuuggggeeee help for a lot of us

This is a bit of a lie since I've been va**ng recently. Gorilla Glue fixes much of what's wrong with me.

Penhaligon's just gets me, and Endymion is bordering on an obsession with me. He was the prettiest son of Zeus; the name fits the fragrance well. I need to try and get a full sized bottle on the cheap; this will become a go to.

I love how transparent my fingers are; just hold em up to the sun and you see everything.

Recently, my favorite go to has been Sexy Garrigue by Veronique Gabai. I just like smelling like dessert, apparently. I love the way it fades down to an almost powder smell on clothes.

Scent is the sense commonly thought most close to memory and for today's I've got a fragrance that reminds me of the last time I hung out with two of my favorite people. We got all-you-can-eat Korean BBQ, then hung out and talked about an absurd variety of topics. And my friend Adwoa ended up giving me this bottle of Serge Lutens' Nuit de cellophane because she thought it smelled better on me than her. Miss u bb.

Pain is still high, so got some G-Wagon. Might cut it with some Clementine later. Idk.

Look, it's been a long pandemic. My parents and I have been quarantined together for an entire year, and I was trying to do something weird to get a rise out of my mom.

You know...

So when I saw this Elon Musk anime body pillow, I thought it would be funny to surprise her with. My parents are both really into renewable energy, my mom is on Twitter enough to get the memes...

So I ordered the pillowcase, setup the pillow, got my camera ready...

What I didn't factor in: my mother has been putting up with my s**t for an awful long time. She barely blinked.

Oh well.

After a while she did admit that it was funny and sent it to a friend of hers.

I've decided to call this little segment I think...

I'm at a 9 on the pain scale, which would usually call for AC/DC, but I'm out. I do have G-Wagon though, and while it doesn't get rid of the pain it gets me high enough that I don't give a f**k about the pain.

Accompanying it today is Truefitt & Hill's Freshman cologne, because I'm a weirdo who just wants to smell like Mr Darcy. This is a Regency-era.... Recipe? Look, I don't know s**t about fragrances other than they help my brain make the happy juices.

I am an exceptionally sensory driven creature by nature and one of my best investments recently has been branding out and experiencing new fragrances. I figured I'd share what I was wearing more, for people who are weirdly obsessed with how I smell out something.

This is what a good life decision looks like.
