Prince William County's first pedestrian bridge might seem oddly placed. The area is not known for foot traffic. But the $3.5 million bridge connects the Va. 234 bike trail -- one of the most used in the county -- to the Liberia Avenue commercial area, which is why it is needed, county officials say.
More bikers than walkers expected to use county’s first pedestrian bridge Located about a mile from the nearest residential areas, Prince William County’s first pedestrian bridge, which recently opened as part of a new intersection on Va. 234, might seem oddly
If the bike share system in DC was compared to public transit agencies in the region, it would rank in the middle for total ridership, above MARC and below DASH. If the estimate for total bikes+ trips in DC were similarly compared, it would rank well above every transit agency in the region besides WMATA. And this: Bike trip have become a transportation juggernaut, and infrastructure for them should be commensurately scaled up as a matter of course. Bike riders shouldn’t be asked to show up time and time again to beg and wheedle and negotiate for connected and protected facilities, because they’re already showing real and obvious demand. Biking in the District is for normies—that’s a good thing Our contributor’s back-of-the-envelope calculations show that DC might be on track for around 39 million trips taken on bikes and scooters in 2024.

Bike Maryland is not anti-automobile!
Drivers need not fear bike and bus lanes, or pedestrian zones, because the ultimate goal is moving people, not just cars.
By prioritizing all road users, Marylanders also receive the health benefits of active transportation, the environmental benefits of reduced single-occupant-car pollutants, and the economic and geopolitical benefits of reduced energy consumption.
***Please consider donating to Bike Maryland!***
Your contribution will support safe streets for all Marylanders and to help them get where they want, when they want – and advance our efforts to improve multi-modal transportation policies and funding.
We invite you to ‘Give what you can” and ask you to consider the cost of a tank of gas.
Thank you!

Thanks to Graham Projects and Bikemore for leading a great walking tour for Bike Maryland in Baltimore this morning. About 35 people came to see great examples of placemaking and discuss the ways that paint and infrastructure changes can increase safety for bikes and pedestrians. We heard from community leaders and small business owners, and also enjoyed lots of fantastic food at Remington's RHouse food hall.
Huge shout out to Delegate Robbyn Lewis for joining the tour and asking lots of great questions. She has been a huge supporter of transit and all kinds of multi-modal transportation projects in Baltimore City and throughout the state.

Last month, we held an inaugural Adaptive Ambassador Training with our partners Friends of Patapsco Valley State Park, Montgomery Parks, and Lancaster Recumbent. The goal was to train mountain bikers in disabilities, disabilities etiquette, ride leading, and AMTB mechanics so they can help get more adaptive riders on trails.
Earlier this week, we had our first ever Ambassador-led ride in the McKeldin area of PVSP! Thank you to our MORE Adaptive Liaisons Dave and Marty for making this happen!
Interested in learning more about adaptive mountain biking and volunteering at an event? We’ll be sharing summer opportunities soon. Stay tuned.
