HAPPY ANNIVERSARY VTC BALTIMORE!

Today marks the 7th anniversary of establishing our Vocational Training Center (VTC) in Baltimore. Since opening our doors in 2017, the VTC has empowered over 2,500 individuals to build promising careers in high-demand trades. We have not only transformed lives but also strengthened the workforce in our community.

Walter Billips, Executive Director of the Vocational Training Centers, stated:
"As we celebrate the 7th anniversary of the NCIA Vocational Training Center, I am immensely proud of the positive impact we’ve had on the lives of our trainees and the Baltimore community. Our commitment to providing individuals with the tools and support they need to succeed is stronger than ever. The VTC continues to help disrupt generational poverty, reduce recidivism, and support the economic growth of Baltimore by creating living-wage earners.

This milestone would not be possible without the dedication of our staff, partners, and supporters who share our vision of building stronger communities through vocational education. This week the Charlotte VTC had a great turnout for their first Resource Fair! Thank you to Charlotte Center for Legal Advocacy, City Startup Labs, Inc., PNC Bank, Just Do It Movement INC., DreamKey Partners, and Mecklenburg County DSS Rise to Work Programfor coming out and meeting with our participants. We are so grateful for how your partnerships provide resources and services that remove barriers and pave the road to success for the men and women in our program!

NCIA is proud to serve our veterans. This Armed Forces Day, we recognize the brave members of our nation’s armed forces who keep this great nation free.

Thank you and for allowing us to be apart of the 3rd annual NPW Stomping Out Addiction resource fair!

Last Friday we had the honor of having Zaire Hogue, the son of our Recruiting Specialist Rod Hogue, join our team for a Job Shadowing school assignment. Zaire interviewed the team members at the Charlotte VTC, as well as a local Judge, and Community Partners Roof Above, DHHS, Grace-Mar, and FedEx. He was also able to interview an automotive class student who had come in for extra hands-on training. It was a joy having Zaire in the building and to see him learn how great of an impact the NCIA program is having on Charlotte.

A new cohort started earlier this month in the Charlotte VTC, and the Automotive students are already preparing to receive their ASE Brakes certification. This certification is one of four they will add to their resumes to make them job-ready by summer.
