What does hijab mean to you?

For me, hijab has been a journey. I was born and raised in an Islamic practicing household, but the hijab was my choice. As I aged, it was heavily recommended, but still my choice.

Being able to choose allowed me to focus more on my character. I knew eventually I wanted to wear the hijab, but.. I felt I had to live up to a certain standard to do so. I didn’t want to just look righteous. I wanted to be righteous. Who is REALLY righteous anyways (besides the prophets and their companions; may peace be open them)? Who am I to say that I’ve attained it. Seeking it (righteousness/piety) is still a constant battle for me. Allah knows best if I am. All I know is that my parents and my village took me took to the water (exposed me to Islam) and allowed me to drink as much as I wanted (gain the understanding of Islam) at my own pace. For that, I am infinitely grateful; Alhamdulilah.

What is hijab to me? It is not only the covering on my head, but it is the beauty of the character. It is the way I treat my siblings of humanity. The way I talk to others. It is my patience, truthfulness, generosity, modesty (not just covering, but the modesty of my character). For me, it is more than just a covering, but everything that I imagine a hijabi should be. Allah knows best. I am still a work in progress, but I am constantly checking myself internally, so that I may become the epitome of what I’ve described and more.

I want to be a lamp (hijabi). The light is internal, but it shines outwardly.

Side note: I know a lot of non-hijabis with the most beautiful character Alhamdulillah.

This is where Le Decor (the name came from).
This is 1 of my fave minimalist decor that I’ve done.

Sharing some inspo for the mamas who share the room with the baby. At the time I had just moved into a 2 bedroom townhome (at the beginning of my pregnancy). I just made use of the space. I did not want to move. The last thing a pregnant woman wants to do is move 😩. Only thing missing here are the frames that was added later and the mamaroo.
