What's the biggest professional accomplishment you're proud of?

"Biggest professional accomplishment thus far has been being a keynote and a speaker at two of the largest photography conferences on America: Imaging USA and WPPI. I spoke on the lack of diversity in my bo***ir photography and addressing the unique needs of Black clients."

What's one piece of advice you would give to young women starting their careers?

"One piece of advice I would give younger women starting their careers is don't be humble. If you have accomplished a goal or anything important to you speak about it. You have to be your own hype person. No one can introduce who you are and what you have accomplished better than you. People who want you to be silent about your accomplishments need not be in your life or have limited access to you."

What motivated you to choose your current career path?

"My motivation for my current career path has to be witnessing the limited educational speaking opportunities for Black photographers in my chosen niche. I am a problem solver so I created a platform to showcase these talented photographers in virtual and in-person workshops. I also wanted to make it easier for Black women to find inspiration for their own bo***ir experiences and vet Black bo***ir photographers across the globe. This was not at all what I planned to do with my degrees but I am grateful that I get to hold space for others."

What motivated you to choose your current career path?

"I made the tough but necessary decision to pivot in my career from Restaurant Managment to my current role as the Operations Manager here at Spark Baltimore. I've loved hospitality as a whole since my first year at Morgan State University where I graduated with my degree in Hospitality Management. I feel like I'm moving in my purpose whenever I am being most helpful to those around me. Operations Management isn't a far reach from Restaurant Management, just less food. Lol."

What's one piece of advice you would give to young women starting their careers?

"When you feel unhappy or stagnant in a career, MOVE! No matter how scary it may be or unsure to what you want to do next. Keep your peace in mind. It will all figure itself out. You may even find a new passion or purpose."

What do you love most about working at our coworking space?

"I love getting to know the different companies and their missions and the endless networking possibilties. I like that we're in touch with multiple resources in one space. If I'm in need of a service or if someone I know is in need of a service, I can reach out to a member and help them in turn with building more client relationships."

Tell us about your company and what it does.

Charm City Buyers, founded in 2012, is a full-service real estate firm including consulting, development, and construction services. Charm City Buyers is deeply committed to community development, notably through their NEXTGen Accelerator program aimed at training new developers and addressing vacant property issues in Baltimore City. The emphasis on education, mentorship, and collaborative partnerships, all while championing diversity and representation as a black millennial family-owned business are foundational goals that not only create generational wealth but also contribute to the revitalization of Baltimore's neighborhoods.

How does your identity as a Black entrepreneur influence your business or mission?

Historically, Black Americans have lacked access to capital. Racist systems have created barriers to wealth and the results are seen today. This has encouraged our focus on education that, when applied, can create wealth for individuals and families.

What are some exciting things coming up for your company?

Exciting developments are underway for us. We're currently in the process of developing a 54-unit new construction townhouse project strategically located near The Johns Hopkins Hospital in East Baltimore. Construction starts this year. Additionally, we will soon be announcing our upcoming Mobilize Baltimore conference. This MULTI-day conference is designed to elevate your investing, entrepreneurship, and wealth-building journey to the next level. We're bringing together top experts in Baltimore's investing scene to ensure you stay at the forefront of the market and achieve your goals. The practical knowledge that you'll learn will be applicable starting day one. We hope you can join us for an empowering and enriching experience!

Tell us about your organization and what it does.

"GreenLight Fund Baltimore collaborates with the community to identify unmet needs in social support services. We harness the insights gathered from community members to pinpoint established nonprofit models from around the country. These models are then brought to Baltimore to extend their services and aid in supporting our communities."

How does your identity as a Black entrepreneur influence your business or mission?

"While searching the country for organizations to support Baltimore City, I specifically seek those dedicated to equity, systems change, and Black liberation. Our communities have endured significant underinvestment, and my business approach is centered on making investments that address and rectify this historical neglect."

What are some exciting things coming up for your organization?

"We are in our third investment cycle and actively scouting the country for the next organization to bring in and support Baltimore City!! It seems like just yesterday that we made our first investment. Our initial investment offers direct cash transfers and comprehensive services to youth experiencing homelessness in Baltimore. The second investment is geared towards ensuring that children are academically prepared for kindergarten."

"On March 7th, we will host an event at the B&O Railroad Museum to celebrate the impact of our portfolio organizations. The evening, titled "Charming Nights," promises to be filled with unforgettable memories!"
