We're sharing this one again as the heat wave arrives today. Tomorrow temperatures are predicted to be in the mid-upper 90s, and the heat index will be well over 100 degrees. Thursday will be just as bad.
These next few days are the days to leave your pets at home where they will be the coolest, unless you are not planning on leaving your vehicle or are taking them to a location that is air conditioned. Make sure they have access to water at all times, or make a plan to bring water with you.
Do not leave your dog in the car for any reason during the next few days, even if you leave it on with the AC running. That is not a fool-proof plan. With temperatures as warm as they're predicting, a car can heat up by 20 degrees in less than 10 minutes, and it takes less than 15 minutes for a dog to die from heat stroke. Please take precautions and plan ahead!

Buddy is pumped to be back with us to continue his board and train program! Happy Monday!
You know what makes our team cringe when we are driving around town? When we see your dog shoving their head and shoulders out the car window on a drive. Why? Although it is adorable and we can see that they are having fun.... all we see is an emergency room visit. We see many dogs who fall out of or JUMP out of moving vehicles. This results in a myriad of injuries ranging from broken bones, sloughed paw pads, hit by car trauma, and even death. All it takes is the ONE time they decide to jump. Even at 20 mph foot pads can slough and you can have broken legs.
If you want your dog to hang it's head out the window... consider a harness with seatbelt for safety and eye wear. If they can get their shoulders out the opening, they can get their WHOLE body out. Be safe and avoid injury by investing in the proper gear for your pet to have fun!
Does your dog chew things it shouldn’t? 🐶
Dogs, especially puppies love to explore the world, and often do this with their mouth. They may start chewing because it calms them, but it could lead to destroyed items or them chewing/eating something dangerous for them. Break the habit as soon as possible! Don’t wait! 🦴
Instead of saying “no”, when finding them chewing, replace the item and praise when they chew on something you have given them. ❤️
If you are having problems with this behavior and your dog, we can help! Set up an appointment at www.titaniumk9.com today!

Why is leash training important?🐕
Dog’s don’t understand cars, and if they see something interesting on the other side of the road they may forget about walking next to you and go check out the more interesting object. There are also dogs who just love other animals, even other's may not want to love them back right away.❤️
When the weather is warm, dog owners want to give their dog the freedom of being off leash, but not only is this dangerous to your dogs and others, but illegal in many areas. ☀️
If you don’t have proper recall, and off leash training, for the safety of your dog and others please keep them on a leash and start working on the right training to help you get closer to being able to walk off-leash.
We can help you work toward your goal of off-leash training! Go to www.titaniumk9.com now to book an appointment!
Throwback to when Tilly was in our Puppy kickstart program! 😍 Start building your foundation of training early so you can start creating a stronger bond with your dog for the future! 🐾
With the weather warming up, remember these tips to keep your dog safe! ☀️
1. Never leave your dog unattended in your car. Opening the windows, or parking in the shade won't help on warm days.
2. Give your dog extra water. Make sure you fill their bowls several times a day, to prevent any illness. 💧
3. Protect their paws. Walk on the grass or shade whenever possible, if it is too hot for your bare feet, it is too hot for them! 🌱
4. Don't leave windows in your home open while your dog(s) is unattended. Don't rely on the screens in your windows to keep your dogs in or keep them from falling out.
If you have any questions, feel free to reach out!

🚨TRAINING TIP🚨
Have you ever thought to yourself... "My dog plays way too rough"❓
You may also find yourself saying things like, "I'll let them calm down on their own", or "they just need to get their energy out".
What you need to do:
1️⃣Step in, and address the issue sooner rather than later.
2️⃣Regulate their behaviors, and teach your dog what to do INSTEAD of playing rough/getting over excited.

Redman, aka sweet potato....
It's Friday! Who else wishes they could bring their dog to work with them? 😂
When should you use a muzzle, and when should you not?
-Muzzles are used for a number of different reasons, history of aggression with other animals or people, in high stress or painful situations, high prey drive, and scavenger tendencies. 👍
-It is not okay to use muzzles for the wrong reason such as, for punishment, to stop barking, and to stop destructive behavior. When muzzles are used to try to correct certain behavior issues, they can cause pain and can lead to additional behavior problems. 👎
To work on any of these behavior issues, schedule a training with us today!

No matter how well behaved your dog is, it is pretty likely that they get excited when someone comes to the door. 🐶
The command "wait" is able to be used for when people come to the door and enter the home and so they don't barrel into the person entering.
When teaching the "wait" command, it is easier to have 2 people helping. Have one person outside of your door, and the other inside with your dog. The person outside should then open the door, and when your dog starts moving toward the door the person inside should say "wait" as the person outside closes the door. Repeat multiple times, and reward your dog when they don't move towards the door. Consistency is so important when teaching and training, and even if you feel your dog has mastered a command, practice regularly! 👍❤️
If you are struggling with this problem, we would be happy to help in your training journey!

Have you, or are you thinking of adopting from a shelter? 🐕
Adopting a rescue dog can be extremely rewarding, but can also have some bumps in the road while both you and your dog adjust. Some shelters may not have a full background of their dogs, and even if they do it can be hard to tell what your dog has gone through. ❤️
It is important to create a calm, safe space for them when being introduced to your home, along with making sure you create a training plan. Training can help with some issues that may arise, and will make a foundation for an incredible bond between you and your dog even if the issues are minor. 🐶

It’s Spring and the grass is getting greener everyday! 🌼
With all the plants growing, now is the time to get out your plant guide or check on any plants you aren’t sure of. 🌱Some native plants may cause sickness, or even more serious problems when ingested by our dogs. Keep an eye out when walking your dog, and always make sure to not let your dog eat anything until you know exactly what it is, it’s better to be safe than assume it is okay! 👍
