☀️ Congratulations Lorena Thurlow, CNA, our first recipient of the Sunshine Award at St. Joseph Healthcare!
The Sunshine Award recognizes Certified Nursing Assistants (CNAs) who brighten the days of their patients, families, and co-workers. Honorees are selected based on demonstration of the St. Joseph Hospital Values of Compassion, Integrity, Collaboration, and Excellence.
Lorena was nominated by a Daisy Award recipient, Naomi Freedberg, RN, who shared, “I went to help a patient to the bathroom but found out someone else had already assisted them. I asked who it was. The patient hemmed and hawed, trying to remember the name of her CNA. Finally, the patient said, “it’s the one who calls me “friend”. Immediately, I understood that she meant Lorena, who refers to many of her patients as “friend”. To this, the patient and I shared a chuckle because we both understood how true that term is when describing interactions with Lorena. She truly is a friend to all patients while at the same time maintaining the safety of each person she cares for.”
Congratulations Lorena for being our very first-ever Sunshine Award recipient.
