Bread for Life Community Food Pantry St. Vincent De Paul
The Bread for Life Community Food Pantry serves Nelson County residents who are below the Federal Poverty level for their family size.
We are supported by volunteers and donations. Closed for Lunch every day 11:45 AM - 12:30 PM
We believe that no one should go hungry, including our furry friends! We occasionally receive pet food donations to help families ensure their pets are well-fed and cared for. See what you qualify for when you come in and speak to our receptionist.
Hunger Action Month is here, and we're calling on our community to help make a difference. Consider volunteering to support our mission of ensuring everyone in Nelson County has access to food.
We offer a range of services to support our community:
Food Pantry: Providing essential groceries to those in need.
Senior Box Commodities: Distributing boxes seniors every 4th Wednesday.
Meals from the Heart: Offering prepared meals to low-income homebound elderly residents.
Help us get the word out! If you or someone you know could benefit from our programs, or if you want to support our efforts, please reach out or share this message.
No one in Nelson County should go hungry. If you or someone you know is struggling, please come by and see what assistance you qualify for by talking to our receptionist. Our income restrictions are pretty generous and people often qualify who think they won't.

Today is Hunger Action Day, and it's time to take a stand against hunger. Did you know that millions of people experience food insecurity every day? We're dedicated to fighting hunger and ensuring everyone in our community has access to the food they need. https://youtu.be/CVR-qa5gNOc?si=uCjg4wt-_FYjDjh8
Hunger Action Day is TOMORROW, and we need your support to raise awareness and take action against hunger in our community. Here’s how you can get involved:
Volunteer with Us: Help us distribute food and support those in need.
Wear Orange: Show your support by wearing orange to raise awareness.
Donate: Every donation helps us keep our shelves stocked and our community fed.
Today is National Food Bank Day, a day dedicated to supporting the vital work food banks do across the country. Come in Monday through Thursday and see your qualifications; no one should go hungry.
Did you know that 1 in 7 adults and 1 in 5 children in the United States experience food insecurity? These are our neighbors, friends, and community members who struggle to access the nutrition they need.
We’re committed to changing that. Throughout September, let’s unite to raise awareness and take action against hunger for Hunger Action Month.
Another way to volunteer is to help distribute food through our "Meals from the Heart" program. You can make a huge difference to many in the community that are homebound, have no means of transportation, and are unable to cook for themselves.
This program delivers five meals per week to each person. If you or someone you know would like to see if you qualify for the program, call (502) 348-7270.
We are distributing our Senior Box Commodities TODAY at the Nelson County Fairgrounds. This event happens every 4th Wednesday of the month from 9am-11am, so mark your calendars!
Seniors (60+ years old) who would like to apply for this program should come to the pantry, 219 E. Muir, and get an application at the reception desk to get signed up.
From fresh produce to proteins, we strive to provide well-rounded options for everyone. Stop by and see what we have in stock this week!

Hey folks, if you received a letter in the mail saying you have been ter
minated from the commodity supplemental food program (CSFP)... this is the Senior Box program and has nothing to do with your monthly shopping visits to the pantry.
Letters went to all folks that have been approved for senior boxes ( fairgrounds senior box) who have not picked up a box all year. Technically, we should drop anyone who hasn't picked up a senior box in 2 months. This is US govt controlled and these rules have been in place for MANY years.
So rest assured, if you come to shop monthly nothing has changed with that. It's only the csfp senior box program.
We carry a variety of produce, too, so you're covered. Stop by and fill your pantry with wholesome goodness!
Our mobile unit "Food on the Move" is in Bloomfield today from 9:30 AM to Noon; if you qualify for our pantry, you can get food there, too! 106 Springfield Road

We rely a lot on the generosity of our community to continue serving those in need. Cash donations are crucial for keeping our shelves stocked. (Why is cash best? Because we are able to purchase food cheaper than most everyone else due to our non profit status and relationship with other food organizations.)
Every contribution helps ensure that we can provide essential support to our neighbors in Nelson County. ❤
We believe in providing dignity and choice; that's why we're a 'client choice' food pantry, allowing you to select the items you need and want for yourself and your family.
Our pantry is stocked with a variety of different foods each week, including delicious treats like danishes. And upon qualifying (income based), you get to select the items that you want.
If you live in Nelson County and need food assistance, stop by and speak with our receptionist to see if you qualify for our program.
