**And we're off! 💪🏻🥳**

Today, 23 incredible "Latetnikim" (Batch 2) officially kicked off their Year of Service, and we couldn’t be prouder! 💙💛

In Israel, it’s common for young people to delay their military service for a year to volunteer and give back to society. That’s exactly what our participants are doing—choosing to dedicate their time and energy to making a real impact.

Latet's Year of Service is part of Latet Youth, which has been empowering Israeli teens for over 10 years, fostering social entrepreneurship, volunteering, and leadership across all sectors and communities. 🌍💪

These young change-makers just wrapped up their first day of training—an exciting, enriching, and anticipation-filled start to their journey. Over the next two weeks, they’ll dive into intensive training, build strong bonds, and prepare for the meaningful work ahead. Based in the southern Israeli cities of Ashkelon and Be'er Sheva, these service year communes are at the heart of Latet’s mission to foster community, resilience, and shared purpose. 🌱👊

Here’s to an amazing year ahead! We can’t wait to see the difference they’ll make. ✨

We invite you to join us today (Thursday) at 12pm EST, for a conversation with Gilles Darmon, Latet’s founder and president, who will provide an overview of Latet’s activities in recent months and will share our plans for the rest of 2024, as we prepare for an escalation in northern Israel.

We welcome the opportunity to answer any questions you might have about our work or the developing situation in Israel. The briefing will be done by Zoom and RSVP is required here >> https://bit.ly/3LN017O .
We hope you will be able to join us.

🌟 Latet Youth members packed 1,000 school kits in just 3 hours at their summer camp! 📚🎒
Each kit is filled with essentials like backpacks, pencil cases, notebooks, and will help kids from displaced and impoverished families start school with confidence. Swipe to see their dedication and love! 💙✨

07/23/2024

Meet Oriya, a 9.5-year-old evacuee from the South. Last November, she was one of 15,000 displaced children who received a school kit from Latet, packed with all the necessities to start school despite being far from home 💔
As the new school year approaches, many impoverished and displaced families in Israel face even greater challenges. In light of the challenging circumstances, we have commenced our annual back-to-school operations, continuing our tradition of support during this important time of year. The ongoing conflict has worsened an already difficult economic situation, leaving families struggling to provide essential school supplies for their kids. Over 100,000 families remain displaced, forcing children to start school in unfamiliar locations.

Now, the need is even greater. Help us provide school kits to children from impoverished and displaced families. Each kit includes a backpack, pencil case, notebooks, writing utensils, and a food box.

At Latet, we're committed to supporting our community in both routine and emergency situations.
As part of our central role during emergencies, we've partnered with the International Fellowship of Christians and Jews to establish an emergency warehouse 🚨 that is equipped and ready to provide direct and rapid response in real-time.

In anticipation of potential escalation on the northern front and various scenarios, the emergency warehouse is currently stocked with thousands of aid packages for private homes and approximately 600 specialized kits designed for prolonged public shelter stays. These kits include food, hygiene products, batteries, flashlights, radios, first aid kits, packs of water, children toys and more. 🛠️

In light of the magnitude of the potential crisis if the situation in the North intensifies, we are still looking for partners to support our emergency efforts in the North.

While we hope these supplies won't be needed, Latet stands ready to assist efficiently and swiftly should the need arise 🤝

Happy 4th of July to our partners and supporters across the United States! 🎉🎆

Today, we want to extend our heartfelt gratitude to our American partners and supporters who stand by our side, especially during challenging times in Israel. Your unwavering support in routine times and emergencies makes a significant impact, providing essential aid and hope. Thank you for being true partners in our mission.

Yesterday , we held another gathering of our Change-Makers Circle, an exclusive network of visionary donors and partners 👬
We enjoyed an evening of delicious food, drinks, and engaging conversations with like-minded social leaders at our office. This time, we highlighted Latet's Alternative Poverty Report 2023, offering insights into current trends of poverty, social inequalities, and nutritional insecurity in Israel. Notably, this edition includes a distinctive chapter on the impact of the recent war on poverty.
We also had the pleasure of hosting Dr. Daphne Richemond-Barak from Reichman University, who led a discussion on the dilemmas of warfare.
Thank you to everyone who attended and made the evening special. Your generosity makes everything we do possible. A big thanks to our incredible partners and donors

🌟 This Shavuot, your gift goes 10x further with Latet! 🌟

As we prepare to celebrate Shavuot, let's come together to support those in need across Israel. With nearly a quarter million Israelis displaced and many struggling due to ongoing conflict, the demand for food assistance has surged.

80% of the food we provide every month to 95,000 families and 1,450 Holocaust survivors comes from food rescue. By partnering with food companies and retail chains, we rescue surplus food and distribute fresh bread, vegetables, fruits and dairy products on top of the usual basic food items like pasta, rice, olive oil, canned goods and many more.
We are committed to delivering special holiday food boxes containing fresh and dairy products
Every $1 you donate enables us to distribute $10 worth of food, thanks to our efficient logistics and partnerships. This means your contribution has ten times the impact!

This year, every single holiday and celebration have been overshadowed by an unprecedented crisis. But each time, we are reminded of the importance of community, compassion and sharing our blessings with those in need.
Your generosity will ensure that thousands of families and elderly receive the assistance they desperately need.

The flame of solidarity is our shared story 🔥

This , we want to introduce our Hanukkah Campaign. This Hanukkah, we are standing with families in need and those affected by the war by providing vital emergency winter equipment.
Latet's mission since October 7th has been to provide an immediate humanitarian response to populations most affected. With the support and shared solidarity from around the world, Latet has been able to distribute emergency kits with food and hygiene products to those in need. With winter coming, we are now expanding our assistance to include winter equipment as well (gloves, scarves, hats, blankets, and more). With already 7,500 winter kits already distributed, we plan on distributing a total of 16,000 winter kits and 3,000 will go directly to Holocaust survivors.
This Hanukkah, to try to add some light in these dark times, consider donating a winter box to a displaced family. The link to donate is below!

Latet is honored to be a part of the "First Light" project, a musical documentary project in which Israel's best artists, and leading video and sound professionals, have volunteered their time to spread beams of light during the difficult times Am Yisrael is going through since October 7th.
There isn’t a single soul in Israel who hasn’t been affected by this situation. Since the war has started, Israeli society has come together to support each other- and musicians have been performing to affected populations and soldiers to bring some spare moments of joy.
"First Light" seeks to be a musical therapy for the Israeli people and bring comfort to the country, while encouraging donations to Latet to provide assistance to the people affected by the war.

Latet’s president and founder, Gilles Darmon, hosted an important meeting with Jewish business professionals from France. The meeting discussed the situation here in Israel, Latet’s emergency response plan on the ground, and the rise of antisemitism globally. This meeting is only one of the many that will take place with Gilles and community leaders around the world to continue the discussion as new information and needs arise in real time.

Gilles is originally from France, and as a new immigrant in the 90s founded Latet- the leading Israeli Humanitarian Aid organization. Since its beginning, Latet’s main mission has been to provide assistance to people most in need. Now more than ever we need support from countries around the world. As the situation in Israel continues to unfold, Latet will proceed in assessing the needs on the ground and working with the abroad community to help all populations in need.

Photos from Latet- Israeli Humanitarian Aid's post 10/16/2023

Latet is constantly assessing the needs on the ground as we work with 250 partner NGOs, the home front command, and our volunteers, to see what food, hygiene products, and populations are in need the most. Our goal is to pack 30,000 food & hygiene boxes for families, the elderly & Holocaust survivors in need and also 20,000 care packages with ready-to-eat food for families in temporary distress, soldiers & reservists, with the aim of 50,000 emergency boxes in total.

This past week Latet has reached 380 Holocaust Survivors with vital aid and will continue to do so in the weeks to come. We have also delivered thousands of boxes to soldiers people from the south who have been displaced, and families forced in shelters for long periods of time.

At Latet, we serve Holocaust survivors with boxes full of food, hygiene products and clothes, as well as volunteers to keep them company. The left pictures Emilia, part of our holistic survivors program receiving necessities and company from one of our volunteers.
The right picture shows Shlomi, a volunteer photographer at Latet for 8 years. Due to the recent situaion, Shlomi was drafted and called back into the reserves. We are happy he is safe and we can provide him with an emergency box of clothes and food.

Latet will continue to asses the situation and provide assistance to populations most in need!

The team of ILTV interviewed our founder and president, Gilles Darmon, about our emergency aid campaign, which provides food and hygiene products to the people of Israel affected by the war. We talk about our support, our target populations, and how our expertise in dealing with crisis helps us succeed in our mission 🙏🏽🙌🏼

10/10/2023

Upon learning the extent of the disaster which occurred during one of the most difficult times the State of Israel had ever known, Latet began to act in “emergency mode” due to the special situation in our home country.

Latet’s mission, as a leading Israeli organization and one of the main operating aid arms within Israel’s civil society, will be to provide an immediate humanitarian response to families in need and populations affected by the war situation. We intend to provide crucial support all over the country, and especially in the southern and/or northern sector, as needed.

Join our national mission and help us provide emergency aid kits containing food and hygiene products to the people of Israel and security forces on the front line.

Following our assessment and mapping in the field, the emergency aid kits will be delivered to:

🇮🇱Populations in need - families, elderly and Holocaust survivors
🇮🇱Evacuees from the municipalities bordering Gaza
🇮🇱Regular and reserve soldiers located at assembly points
🇮🇱Families who are forced to stay for an extended period in shelters and protected spaces

Behind-the-scenes at Latet 🎬

Meet Keren 😊
Keren is the "Aid for Life" Southern district coordinator at Latet.
Our "Aid for Life" program was developed to improve the lives of impoverished Holocaust survivors and provide 1,450 survivors with medical, physical, and emotional support that enables them to live a life of dignity.
Keren spent the past few weeks attending holiday dinners for Holocaust survivors and coordinating food box distributions.

Here are a few questions we asked her:
- How much coffee a day do you need? ☕️
"Two cups of coffee but in our team, it's always accompanied by chocolate, cake or a cookie.”
- What is your most memorable moment at Latet?
“The first time I attended a Rosh Hashanah dinner party for Holocaust survivors we provide assistance to. The survivors showed up dressed in their best clothes and were very moved and grateful when they arrived at the dinner. In that moment, I realized how important it is to give them attention and alleviate their loneliness. It is no less important than the food they receive from us."
- What do you like most about your job?
"Go visit our food distribution centers and meet the amazing volunteers who distribute food packages to survivors every month."
- A motto that you really, really don't believe in?
"That's what we have and with that we will win."
- A message to the universe? 🌏
"We are in the midst of the holiday season and the need for assistance is growing, so I will simply say that to be Israeli is to give.”

Thank you, Keren, and to all the staff, volunteers and partners who together make sure everyone celebrates the holidays and starts the year well ❤️

In a bit more than a week from now, we'll all sit around the holiday table and celebrate the beginning of the Jewish New Year 🍎🍯

While we provide yearlong food assistance to populations in need, we extensively expand these efforts toward the holidays to provide food boxes to tens of thousands of families, senior citizens, and Holocaust survivors around the country who struggle every day to keep their head above water. Specifically, this year, with the dramatically increasing cost of living in the country, we have received lots of new requests which only mean one thing: our help is crucial.

Rosh Hashanah is a national effort here at Latet and we wanted to give you a small glimpse into our High Holidays activities:

❤️Hundreds of Latet volunteers are showing up every day at our 3 logistics centers to pack the holiday food boxes and distribute them throughout the country. Our holiday food boxes include holiday treats such as honey, honey cookies and specially for Holocaust survivors, we add gefilte fish.

❤️Our national food drive in cooperation with the Shufersal supermarket chain takes place as every year all around the country with thousands of volunteers encouraging customers in the shops to donate food products. It started two days ago in about 200 supermarkets with the aim to eventually collect around 10,000 food boxes worth over one million NIS.

❤️As part of our mission to reduce Holocaust survivors' feeling of loneliness, we hold 9 holiday dinners in collaboration with private companies for the survivors. For many of them, this is their only opportunity to celebrate the holiday and a rare occasion to socialize .

❤️Our "Donation and Pack" project that has been successfully carried out for the past several years in collaboration with the leading companies in the Israeli market, is carried out as every year by hundreds of employees who pack food boxes that are then distributed to families in need.

Together with the volunteers, donors from the general public and partners from the philanthropic and business sector, we'll be able to reach out to as many people in need as possible.👭
