Applewood Family Dentistry OPENS JUNE 1st!

Applewood Family Dentistry is excited to announce that we will be reopening for normal business hours starting Monday, June 1st. We understand that this has been a difficult time for many of you and your loved ones, and we want to make sure that we continue to provide a safe environment for our staff and patients.

In order to do so, we now ask that you bring your own mask and pen with you to your appointments and please wear your mask at all times while in the office and not receiving dental care. If you do not have a mask, we will provide one for you. We also ask that upon arriving, patients stay in their vehicles and call or text the office to let us know of your arrival. When we are ready to begin your appointment, we will call or text you back. If you do not have a cell phone, please let us know when you confirm your appointment so that we can make proper accommodations.

When arriving to the office, we will be taking your temperature in addition to asking some screening questions about any recent symptoms or exposure to anyone with symptoms related to COVID-19. We ask that you wash your hands in the patient bathroom after arriving to the office to minimize outside exposure. You will also notice that the staff is wearing more personal protective equipment during your procedures which is designed to protect both you and the staff. We apologize in advance if there is some difficulty in hearing us with the extra equipment, but we will do our best to speak loudly and clearly enough to be heard. We will minimize hand shaking and hugging for the time being, but encourage air hugs and air hand shakes. We have installed sneeze guards around the front reception area, and we ask that you speak clearly with the guard in front of you when conversing with the reception. Dental cleanings will slowly be phased into our schedule as June progresses. We have always and will continue to practice the highest degree of universal precautions in addition to adding more time to appointments to do further disinfection of reception areas, doorknobs and bathrooms between patients.

We look forward to serving our community in a safe and effective way and returning to some degree of normalcy. If there are any questions or concerns please do not hesitate to contact the office.

We want to wish everyone a happy Memorial Day while we honor those who have given the ultimate sacrifice for the country and philosophies we hold so closely to our identity. "Oh say does that Star Spangled
Banner yet wave
O'er the land of the free
And the home of the brave"

Be Safe!

We would like to take a moment to acknowledge the group Seacoast Mask Makers. This group has volunteered their time and talent and have made and donated over 57K masks to healthcare workers, nursing homes and frontline workers since the need arose mid-March. We have several patients who were key players in this effort and appreciate all you do. We are fortunate to be part of this fantastic and compassionate community!

COVID-19 Update

I hope everyone is holding up well and making the best of these strange times. As you probably know, the governor spoke recently regarding how NH will phase into restarting the economy and getting everyone back to work. While there was not a lot of information directly discussed regarding how dentists and dental professionals should proceed, we have discussed this topic in great detail amongst our staff, colleagues and our community leaders regarding the best course of action to take. Our highest priority is the safety of our patients, staff and community and we have already made substantial changes to our protocols during these times to make our office as safe as possible for all. We are following the science behind COVID-19 as close and as up-to-date as possible to make the changes necessary to practice safely. We have received generous donations from the state and even from one of our very own patients who had extra and essential personal protective equipment that has allowed us to continue to see patients dealing with emergencies over the last month. Considering all this, we have decided to continue along the same path through the month of May to align as close as possible with the Governor's stay-at-home orders. This means we will continue to service those of you who are dealing with dental emergencies and urgent care needs, but we will hold off on dental cleanings and non-urgent care at this time. While this is frustrating for all parties involved, I think it's the wisest move during these unprecedented times.

Speaking with a patient recently, we discussed just how grateful I am to be able to serve this community and provide you with the care and skill that brings me such joy. I miss that; and I miss all of you and the daily interactions that we have been having these past years. However, it makes me so grateful for the opportunity to serve you in a profession that I love so much. Like many of you, I want to get back to a state of normalcy as soon as possible. In the meantime, I think it is important that we focus on all the things we are grateful for during these strange times. The photo above shows you who I am most grateful for in my life, if you couldn't tell 😉. As always, if you are currently dealing with a dental problem, do not hesitate to reach out so we can address your issue. We are here for you and are happy to help in any way we can. With the situation constantly evolving, if there are any changes or updates to our decisions or timeline, we will inform you right away. Thank you for your continued patience and loyalty.

Warm Regards,

Dr. Westbrook and the Applewood Family Dentistry Staff

03/29/2020

As the COVID-19 situation continues to evolve and we get more recommendations from our Governor and other leaders, we have decided that the practice will continue emergency only services through May 4th, 2020. Our goal is to keep patients who are experiencing dental emergencies away from emergency rooms, hospitals and walk-in care facilities as best as possible as the number of patients seeking care for COVID-19 exposure increases. Due to the nature of dental treatment, we want to minimize the amount of dental procedures that we're doing during this time to protect our patients, staff and community, however Dr. Westbrook will be available if you are experiencing a true dental emergency. If no one picks up at the office, he can be reached via his emergency line that is listed on the answering machine. If you have any questions, feel free to get in touch with the practice, we are periodically checking emails and messages throughout the week. We also want to thank all of our other essential business workers who are working on the front lines to keep us safe, fed and healthy. We are hopeful that this epidemic will come to an end sooner if we take the right precautions now. Be safe and remember that we are here for you!

2 Week Closure ( March 16 - 27th)

Due to the most recent updates and recommendations from multiple governing bodies throughout the country, Applewood Family Dentistry has decided to close for the next two weeks. We feel this decision best reflects the safety of our patients, staff and community. Fortunately, we were already scheduled to have next week (March 23-27th) off for a pre-arranged vacation. We will still be available for emergency dental care throughout this period. We hope to be able to see patients again normally starting on Monday March, 30th, however the situation is constantly evolving. If changes occur to our scheduling, we will be sure to notify everyone as quickly as possible. If you have any questions regarding our decision or your dental care please reach us at 603-664-2722. We wish everyone safe navigation through these difficult times.

03/16/2020

After significant deliberation and research, Applewood Family Dentistry has decided to close Monday, March 16, 2020. We will reassess the evolving situation at the end of the day tomorrow in regards to the rest of the week as we get more information and more standards are set in the area. This is a quickly evolving situation and we have a responsibility to do what's in the best interest and well-being of our patients, staff and community. We feel this decision directly reflects that. We will be available for emergencies should you have one during this time. As always, we can be reached at 603-664-2722 for any questions or concerns regarding your dental needs. We are dealing with unprecedented parameters and will do our best to provide you with the most up to date information and make sure that we continue to deliver the highest degree of care and customer service possible.

Brushing too hard — or using the wrong toothbrush — can damage your teeth and gums, leading to problems like enamel wear and receding gums, which can in turn lead to tooth sensitivity. If you notice your toothbrush becoming “splayed” ask Dr. Westbrook at your next appointment if an electric toothbrush may be a better choice for you!

11/27/2019

We will be closing today at 1 pm and will return on Monday, December 2.
Wishing you all a Happy Thanksgiving!
