The U.S. Office of Special Education Programs (OSEP) will host "Smart Beginnings," - a three-day virtual mini-conference on August 27-29 from 2:00 - 3:30pm ET each day. There will be presentations by OSEP leaders and subject matter experts. The sessions are designed to help families, providers, and leaders better support and promote developmental outcomes and educational excellence for infants, toddlers, children, and youth with disabilities and their families.
Sessions will include a live question and answer session with presenters.

Starting on Friday, August 9, 2024, the Greater Baton Rouge Food Bank, in partnership with the Iberville Parish Council and the Office of Social Services will initiate the distribution of USDA Donated Food Commodities to families in need in Bayou Sorrel and Bayou Pigeon.
Commodities will be given ONLY to those clients that qualify based on the Greater Baton Rouge Food Bank and USDA guidelines. Qualification is based on income. You will be registered when you come to pick up the commodities.
Rules for acceptance and participation in the program are the same for everyone without regard to race, color, national origin, age, s*x, or disability. Further information may be obtained by contacting the Office of Social Services at (225) 687-5243.

In this episode, we interview Katie Haynes from Youngsville, North Carolina. She is the first person to compete in the Miss United States Agriculture pageant in a wheelchair and we talk about her pageant experience in many competitions. She has Gastroparesis and a rare form of dysautonomia called AAG, Autoimmune Autonomic Ganglionopathy.
