The LHSCA is against the NCAA proposal for an early June Signing Period. It would allow high school football players, who just completed their junior seasons, to sign a NLI in June. Official visits would move to as early as sophomore year & make the recruiting calendar even more difficult. States are already seeing players opt out of their senior seasons & this proposal would make it easier & increase the number of opt outs. Athletes could sign in June & opt out of their senior season or even enroll early if enough credits are accrued. This would greatly affect high school recruiting, potentially crippling it. With the portal already affecting high school recruiting, we stand with other state coaches associations and the National High School Football Coaches Association in being against an early June Signing Date.
Come out tonight - Monday January 29th at 6pm - to The PMAC at LSU for a great event on mental health and awareness. Rain Will Bring Flowers is teaming up with Brandon Saho, former WBRZ Channel 2 sports personality, along with LSU, The L Club, OLOL, and The Joe Burrow Foundation to bring this to everyone for FREE. Former LSU athletes Kevin Faulk, Ashleigh Gnat, and Delvin Breaux will be on hand to present.
