I am deeply honored to be featured as a community hero by . I love our community, and it’s a true privilege to be recognized among such awesome individuals. Whether working together, being blessed by, or simply sharing in the effort to improve lives, I am continually inspired by the dedication and compassion around me.
Thank you for this amazing recognition!
One of the best things I’ve done for myself on my self-care journey is getting Sisterlocks two year ago.
Day #1 vs 2nd Year Anniversary illustrates how beneficial choosing a path of life that’s best of me continually refuels, renews, and refreshes. Growth was inevitable because I have:
G - Gained a greater appreciation for eating to live vs living to eat. By incorporating a balanced diet rich in essential nutrients like vitamins, minerals, and proteins, individuals gain the necessary building blocks for healthy hair growth. These nutrients help strengthen hair follicles, reduce breakage, and promote a lush, vibrant appearance.
R - Realized regular exercise reaps great reward to those who patiently wait. Hair health is tied to regular physical activity. Exercise increases blood circulation, ensuring that hair follicles receive ample oxygen and nutrients, which are vital for robust hair growth.
O – Obtained a greater appreciation for the benefits of water vs sugary drinks to properly hydrate the body. Adequate hydration is obtained through drinking plenty of water daily. Proper hydration helps maintain a healthy scalp environment, prevents dryness, and supports the overall health of hair strands, leading to better growth and shine.
W – Worked to intentionally eliminate as many stressors as possible by not sweating the small stuff. Stress can lessen its harmful effects on hair when stress-reduction practices like biking, dancing, meditation, or hobbies are included into regular routines. Chronic stress can lead to hair thinning and loss, so managing stress is crucial for maintaining healthy hair.
T – Taken this journey seriously and have been constant in maintaining healthy habits, including my hair care regimens. I am doing my best to get to fitness bootcamp at least 3 times a week. Sisterlocks make it possible for me to wash my hair with moisturizing shampoo as soon as I get out of the gym and still be on the run. I just let it air dry as I go about the rest of the day. I make sure my retie appointment is scheduled every 5-6 weeks. I go easy on leave in conditioning to avoid buildup. Proper care prevents buildup, reduces tension, and encourages healthy growth.
H – Held a commitment to my overall well-being which is the foundation of self-care and the reason my sisterlocks flourish. This includes getting adequate sleep, avoiding smoking, and avoiding alcohol. A healthy lifestyle is reflected in the condition of my Sisterlocks, making them stronger, more vibrant, and resilient.
Self-Care + Sisterlocks = Sensational

Self-Care requires protecting yourself from “some people”.

I’ve experience a boomerang effect from this and for that…I am grateful🙏🏾
👋🏾Hey Y’all Hey!
I know it’s been a minute. I’ve not posted anything lately nor done any videos. I’ve been showing myself some TLC though 🥰. Over the past three months, my self-care journey has involved prioritizing fitness physical health. Making sure I’m heart healthy is a way to embrace self-care and cultivate self-love.
For the past three months, I've committed to attending boot camp sessions three days a week. And let me tell you, it's been an exhilarating experience! I also walk outside on beautiful days or hit the treadmill when it gloomy out. Not only have I seen improvements in my physical strength and endurance, but my sleep has improved which makes me more productive during the day.
Self-care isn't just about treating yourself to a spa day or indulging in your favorite treat (though those things are definitely important too!). It's about nourishing your body, mind, and soul in ways that promote overall well-being. And guess what? Regular exercise, like the boot camp sessions I've been attending, is a crucial aspect of self-care.
But self-care goes beyond just hitting the gym. It's about listening to your body, giving yourself permission to rest when needed, and fueling yourself with nutritious foods that make you feel good from the inside out. It's about setting boundaries, saying no when necessary, and prioritizing activities that bring you joy and fulfillment.
Incorporating fitness into my self-care journey has also deepened my sense of self-love. By dedicating time and energy to taking care of myself, I'm sending a powerful message to myself: I am worthy of love and care. And let me tell you, there's no greater feeling than embracing yourself fully and unconditionally.
So, whether you're embarking on a self-care journey like mine or simply looking to prioritize fitness and self-love in your daily life, remember this: You are deserving of love, care, and attention. Make yourself a priority, and watch as your life transforms in beautiful and unexpected ways.
💪🏾🙌🏾💜
