St. Joseph Catholic Cemetery
A sacred place of peace and repose for those who await the Resurrection of the Dead, St. Burial space in St. Plots are no longer for sale to the general public.
Joseph Catholic Cemetery bears quiet witness to the faith of those who have gone before us. Bounded on the north by North Street, on the east by 17th Street, on the south by Main Street, and on the west by 15th Street, St. Joseph Catholic Cemetery is one of the oldest cemeteries in the city of Baton Rouge, Louisiana. Joseph Catholic Cemetery is now severely limited, principally to those whose relatives are buried here.
In anticipation of the cemetery's 200th anniversary next year, we're highlighting some of the more notable and interesting people laid to rest in the cemetery. This is the latest in our series. If you have a suggestion for one of these highlights or a question about someone buried in the cemetery, please feel free to contact us at [email protected].

Check out these before and after pictures of one of the cemetery's most recognizable tombs -- the Dollhouse. Thanks to the hard work of cemetery board member Kenny Kleinpeter, the Dollhouse now shines. The work involved cleaning up and pressure-washing the tomb and the grave marker next to it, repairing some damage, repainting the entire structure and restoring the cross to the grave beside it. We couldn't have done this without the generosity of our donors. Thank you!

Shortly before All Saints Day, a couple of the cemetery board members and the cemetery sexton spent some time talking with WBRZ's John Pastorek about our historic treasure. Our thanks to John for taking the time to put this piece together. You can watch it at https://www.wbrz.com/videos/all-saints-day-at-st-joseph-s-cemetery-sunday-journal.
