Yet another incredibly Baby Cafe at Catching the Dream Learning Center ! Love spending time in community and helping answer the questions the families have as we explore together.
As pediatricians continue to decline across the country, the long-term effects on children’s health cannot be ignored. The shift from preventative to interventional care, combined with the persistent issue of undercompensating pediatricians—many of whom are women—puts our most vulnerable at risk. This trend not only reflects systemic sexism but also deprioritizes critical preventive care that can help children thrive. As healthcare leaders, we must advocate for fair compensation and prioritize the well-being of our future generations by investing in preventative care.

Today, on Infant Loss Remembrance Day 2023, we honor the memory of the babies who are no longer in our arms and offer our deepest support to all who have experienced pregnancy or infant loss. This day reminds us of the importance of raising awareness about this common yet deeply stigmatized experience.
Let’s come together to learn more about the history and significance of this day and explore how we can support each other in creating more open conversations around this difficult topic.

As Hispanic Heritage Month comes to a close, I reflect on the rich tapestry of cultures, histories, and contributions that make up the Latinx community—many of which are deeply rooted in Indigenous traditions. Today, on Indigenous Peoples' Day, I am reminded of the invaluable contributions and resilience of Indigenous communities across the Americas, many of whom continue to face profound health inequities.
As a Latina osteopathic physician, I am committed to working toward health equity and justice, recognizing that the fight for wellness is inseparable from the fight for justice for all marginalized communities. Indigenous populations, often invisible in our systems of care, deserve recognition, respect, and a healthcare system that acknowledges and addresses their unique needs.
In my work, I strive to be an advocate for those historically underserved, acknowledging that true health equity must include dismantling the structural barriers that continue to affect Indigenous communities today. I am grateful to be part of the ongoing effort to bring this vision to life.

🤱🏽✨ Happy National Midwifery Week! ✨🤱🏽
As a pediatrician and breastfeeding medicine doctor, I am honored to work alongside midwives who are truly at the heart of maternal-infant healthcare. Midwifery care is not just a profession; it’s a calling, driven by a deep commitment to providing personalized, compassionate, and empowering care to mothers and their newborns.
Midwives play a vital role in supporting families through pregnancy, childbirth, and beyond, ensuring that each individual is seen, heard, and cared for with respect and dignity. Their holistic approach aligns closely with my passion for advocating for breastfeeding and equitable healthcare for all families.
Thank you to all the midwives for your dedication, advocacy, and the countless ways you uplift and empower women and families every day. Your work is invaluable, and I am proud to stand in partnership with you in supporting the health and well-being of mothers and babies everywhere. 💖

Today is Latina Equal Pay Day!
Did you know that despite Latinas contributing $1.3 trillion to the U.S. GDP in 2021, Latina workers still earn only 51 cents for every dollar paid to non-Hispanic white men? Over a 40-year career, this wage gap means Latinas stand to lose an estimated $1.2 million in earnings. Imagine the economic impact this has on our families, communities, and the country as a whole.
Let’s keep pushing for equity and fair pay for all!

Today, October 1st, we celebrate National Latino Physician Day!
This day brings attention to the urgent need to address the Latino physician shortage crisis. The mission of National Latino Physician Day is to improve healthcare for Latino patients in the U.S. by increasing the number of Latino physicians who provide culturally and linguistically tailored care.
As part of the 2.4% of Latina physicians in the U.S., I’m deeply proud of my heritage and the values it instilled in me as both a physician and an advocate for my community.
