Good morning Bay City, Hampton township, Essexville and surrounding areas.
It is with a heavy heart that we have to sadly announce that Sammy Jay's Grub House unfortunately has to close it's doors for business.
We want to extend our deepest gratitude and give thanks to all of our Patriots and our loving customers
For their support and patience over those last 7 months. My wife and I had always dreamed of opening and running our own restaurant, one that served strictly the freshest and homemade non Frozen foods to the community. However since our second week in business we experienced an overwhelmingly challenge one night after another, from vehicle issues to SEVERAL Equipment failure, to electrical issues to plumbing issues to even leaking in our roof!!
Not to mention the bad luck we had in the beginning finding good reliable help for employees, not all were bad but something even in those few didn't work out due to scheduling and it didn't fit the businesses needs.
We opened this location with a minimum amount of funds and Hoped that food and services would speak for how good of a meal we provided for the community and had faith that we would be successful.
Well unfortunately for us one misfortune event after another on top of opening right before the dead of winter season we struggled every week to keep her head above water. And we just didn't get enough business to keep the business itself afloat along with our bills at home and keep the place stocked with food.
We have exhausted ourselves to our wicks end trying to find a solution to keep this business open not only for us but for the community and our loyal customers.
We have tried to seek help financially from the city from our banks from other Banks and credit unions from online grants to personal loans to business loans to even considering trying to bring someone on board as a partner full-time or even a silent partner full time. We were unsuccessful and finding a solution for any of these. Sadly growing up I was never wise enough to open a bank account until my late 40s when I wanted to buy a home and I never thought to try to build my credit therefore we're unable to get a personal loan or business loan without a cosigner or someone willing to back us. So it is with deep regret to have to do this, and we would like to again extend our deepest gratitude to those who have came here the last 7 months and loved and enjoyed our food and service. And to those who have came here and didn't enjoy their experience or food I would also like to extend my deepest apologies to them as well. We have great food here and we have great service however I can't personally cook every plate and serve every plate while I am running around trying to prep all the homemade foods from scratch and like I said in the beginning we were not blessed with very good hope in the kitchen so for that I apologize. We are however not going to let this stop us or hold us back from moving forward and seeking out our passions and dreams, we will take this time to set back and figure out our flaws from this experience and we will be back better than ever had a new location very soon!
