Bay City In Bloom collaborates with the City of Bay City Parks Department, and other partners, to enhance the Kantzler Memorial Arboretum, a longstanding public-private partnership with a rich history.

The proposed site improvements are essential for safety, longevity, and aesthetics, addressing visible issues, infrastructure needs, and adding new features. The goal of the project is to create a universally accessible, sustainable, and cost-effective outdoor space.

Bay City in Bloom and the City of Bay City are working towards the Phase 1 fundraising goal for this revitalization project. Excited to partner with Michigan Economic Development Corporation (MEDC) and Patronicity, the project is able to utilize their Public Spaces Community Places crowdfunding platform.

The Bay City Garden Club Speaker Event & Social on April 27, 2023 was a great success! Thank you to everyone who came out to Saginaw Bay Yacht Club SBYC to hear Jerry Somalski, owner of Bay Landscaping speak on Botanical Nomenclature. - It was a "Dolittle" sort of evening as Jerry reminded us that we can learn so much if we "just stop and talk to our plants".

Our attendees left this event with a greater appreciation for the importance of naming & classifying plants. - If we dig deeper to understand where our plants & their names came from, botanical nomenclature will inevitably help us understand their characteristics and uses. Most will move forward with strength and beauty as new species & genus classifications, while some may be lost. Science & Knowledge will help make predictions, but only time will tell!
