Having fun making new cups!
Berry bowls, mushrooms and coffee scoop classes recently held at the Healing Arts Center! So much fun!
Another fun class in the books, projects are ready for pick up at the Healing Art Center! Next class is April 25th, we’ll be making garden mushrooms! Sign up with Cindi at the Healing Art Center!
Before and after on the tie dye project….should layer a bit more next time but overall not bad!
Another great class at the healing arts center! They’re ready for pick up!
What a fantastic first class, they all turned out so well ❤️ And they’re ready for pick up at the Healing Arts Center!
Playing with underglaze transfers! These are ready for the bisque fire coming soon.
Chickens and pottery are two of my hobbies, here they are combined! You can add any omelet ingredients to make yours a super bagel. And since it’s meant for the microwave, it’s an easy (and healthy) snack for kiddos to make themselves!
I’ll be at the swap meet at Desert Thunder Raceway this Saturday 10-2. Come out to see all the great vendors!
We had a hen go broody for the 3rd time so I decided to let her sit. She hatched 3 babies! 🥰 this is the first time we’ve let a hen do this and we’re beyond excited, so much so I’ve already pressed their feet in clay! 🐥
Little set up at the Desert Thunder Swap Meet today. Here until 2, stop by and see everyone!
Fun Fact: clay changes color at different stages of the process! Each picture shows the clay in its raw form (the clump). It’s then bisque fired at ~1800* F (cups in middle). The piece is strong enough to handle yet still very fragile and porous, allowing the glaze to adhere well. And finally, it’s glaze fired at ~2100* F (finished piece on the right of each picture). Now its no longer porous and will hold liquid without leaking through. While in Utah, I get supplies from a different supplier and have built quite the collection of colored clays, keep posted for pictures!
Note: I use mid-fire clays, there are also low-fire and high-fire clays…so many choices and possibilities!
What a fun morning playing in the mud! Thank you, ladies, your mugs are so cute!!
So happy to announce that my stone mugs are now available at the Healing Arts Center. Not only do they have the most relaxing gift shop but also the best workout classes, go check them out!
Drips for days 😍
Almost enough pieces!
New project in the works
The proceeds from the plant sale were able to purchase six pints of glaze and clay to make more than 50 ornaments for hospice patients to color, thank you!
Marbled clay is like a marriage:
No two are the same. There’s no back up plan, no escape clause and zero regrets. Our vows are not promises of perfection, they are promises to persevere through every fire. “They are no longer two but one flesh. What therefore God has joined together let man not separate.” Matthew 19:6
Happy 28th anniversary, Shane! What a beautiful marbled life we’ve created ❤️
I pressed this leaf about a year ago and let it sit on the shelf for months ‘drying’ because I didn’t like the bowl shape I’d formed it into. I’d considered tossing in the f it bucket but just couldn’t. I finally got around to bisque firing it (needed filler in the kiln) and then it sat around for months…again. This past week I had to finish a few custom orders and again needed kiln filler, so I hurriedly glazed this with absolutely no hope for beauty, my fading technique has never really worked😂 To my surprise, when I pulled this from the bottom shelf of the kiln I was impressed! So glad I didn’t give up on this piece in the beginning, so many lessons learned! The #1 being; that all encompassing gut feeling you sometimes get is really God speaking so listen very carefully. In this case He was saying, ‘don’t give up, I have already decided the end result and it is worthy!’
Just a little video of some delicious drips on this Stitchtite cup for your viewing enjoyment 😍 I went to The Healing Arts Center here and picked up stones that match some of my glazes and attached them to cups and mugs. I’ll post the stone description in the comments.
Loving this base glaze, winter wood! It’s flat white with dark slightly textured spots. And the way it plays with others is amazing, all those delicious drips! And they feel good to boot 😍
For all those that purchased my plants, here is a bit of useful info!
Hey guys, I’m finally having my plant sale! Tonight and tomorrow at Desert Thunder Raceway at the main spectator gate. Races start at 7. Plants are $10 each and all proceeds go to hospice patient projects. We’ve made hanging planters and pinch pots at Price Good Life, Elmo Good Life and Parkdale as well as private hospice patients (over 20 patients total and completely free to them).
Had much fun marbeling clay and got some really cool results in the process. All of these are made using the same ratio of same clays. Notice the difference clear glaze makes. The blue vessels are raw clay on bottom and others have a clear coat on them. The colors are more striking w clear glaze. The tri picture is three sides of the same vessel. You just never know what you’re going to get using this process, except that it will be unique!
