November is National Senior Pet Month! What a difference a few years can make to your dog. You don't feel older, so why does your dog? Comparing your human age to your dog's age is a little complicated but 1 year for humans is not the same as 1 year for dogs.
The common thought is that 1 human year = 7 dog years and that is NOT the case. Dogs age more in the first 2 years of life than the rest of their lives. It also depends on the size/breed of the dog. Smaller dogs tend to age slower and have a longer life span than larger dogs. The equation is more close to the first 2 human years of a dogs life is about 10.5 dog years per year and after that each human year = about 4 dog years.

Some deaf cats may feel a vibration in the floor as we approach them, but others may not, so it is important not to sneak up and startle them. Often, firmly tapping a foot nearby is enough to wake them or get their attention. It is also important to teach children appropriate respect for deaf cats.
