Things to consider that could lower your risk:
• Being overweight or obese after menopause increases the risk of breast cancer
• Many studies conducted over the past 20 years have shown consistently that an increase in physical activity is linked to a lower breast cancer risk.
• Smoking was associated with a modest but significantly increased risk of breast cancer, particularly among women who started smoking at adolescent, or around the time that regular menstruation began (peri-menarcheal)
• Major depression appears to increase the hazard for cancer, particularly in the case of breast cancer among women.
• Moderate alcohol consumption -- 15-30 grams/day of alcohol consumption (about 1-2 drinks/day) --has been linked to an approximate 30-50% increased risk in breast cancer
