September 11, 2001-Never Forget

From all of us at Higgins Family Brands, we want to remember all of those who lost their lives because of September 11, 2001. Innocent people died this day and this forever changed our country and way of life.

Thank you to all of the first responders and military members who have and are willing to give their lives for our freedom and liberty every single day.

We will never forget you and will do our very best to honor you because of your willingness to sacrifice yourself for us. We see you and know that your humility to serve us is your passion and who are. You know the dangers of service but you choose to live your life for us and place yourself into harms way at any minute.

You give up precious time for yourself, family and friends and they stay with you, supporting you and loving you by phone, text or email because you're not there. You give up a normal way of life for a chaotic and stressful path to protect others. It is humility, will and love for people you may never meet, that drives you. We know we need you.

We love you and pray for you and when you need a hand.....we got you!!!!

Dear Friends,
All of my Lowcountry businesses will be closed August 6, 2024 for employee safety. I love all of my staff and want them to be with their loved ones and not worry about trying to get to work during the storm. Flooding is very dangerous and we want you and everyone in our community to be safe and happy. We plan to open the restaurant brands on August 7'th if possible. Ali is our General Manager and has been with Blackstone's Cafe as the GM for one year. Prior to working here as the GM, Ali worked here for the previous ownership. Ali knows food and beverage and loves the staff and guests and is the best in the F&B business. Ali has been with us since 2020 and works hard to make sure our guests have a great experience. Ali is an awesome Mom to three beautiful girls and one is standing next to her in the middle...

Jocelyn is one of our hosts. She makes sure our seating chart and reservations are taken and filled. Jocelyn is a Junior in Highschool and extremely athletic. She is a golf athlete and her handicap is -40, probably better than Tiger Woods. Actually, she invented golf, let's just call it out. 😅 Jocelyn has a beautiful voice and sings all around the restaurant and is a breath of fresh air to everyone that comes in.

Colleen is one of our legendary servers. Colleen is from Illinois and has been serving people for more than 35 years. She is thorough and kind and a massive part of the brand here. Colleen has 2 daughters and a grandson and her husband Joe is a salt of the earth kinda guy. Colleen has been working with us for 4 years and we absolutely love her.

Meet Cara our General Manager!!!

Cara is the absolute best in the business. The drive in movie experience in our country has died significantly. However, this drive in led by Mrs. Cara is at the top of list for performance nationwide, right here in beautiful Beaufort, South Carolina. The Hwy 21 Drive In is a massive attraction for the Lowcountry. Cara has made our drive in the #1 USA destination stop for Harvest Host members in less than 1 year.

Because of Cara and the team, the drive in attracts people from all over. Some drive hours to see a movie with us and taste the great food and be a part of American nostalgia. We bring in TONS of commerce to the Beaufort area and have done it for 50 years!!!!

Cara has dedicated many years to the Hwy 21 Drive In and her drive and love for this business is seen every single day. She works early and stays late. She truly pours passion and hard work into the drive in non-stop. Cara loves our community and truly wants you and your family to have the best experience ever.

Think about what happens here most days:
The team led by Cara, park hundreds and hundreds of cars safely, then prepare and feed hundreds and hundreds of people in less than 2 hours every showtime. No other business does that and Cara and the teen staff make sure your time with us is fun and unforgettable.

On December 30, 2023 at approximately 2:15 am, Fatima Castaneda was killed in a vehicle collision on Okatie Highway just outside of Beaufort, South Carolina. Fatima was our lead server at our sister restaurant, Stir Crazy and loved her job and her team. Fatima was 20 years old and showed a deep passion of service to people and friends. She always had a great attitude and told me two days prior to the collision, that she loved working with the restaurant staff and loved our customers. She had a huge smile and a beautiful personality and is greatly missed already.

We are a big family of many, many amazing people here at Stir Crazy and all of my companies. When someone leaves us, it is felt in every person. We employ Teenagers, Adults, Military Members, Moms, Dads, Grandmoms, Grandpas, Brothers, Sisters, Teachers, College Students, Single Moms and Dads working two jobs, Nurses, Firemen, Police Officers amd many other people in our communities all over the United States. These are real people who I and my staff get to know and love and who many see every day.

Please be praying for Fatima's family, friends and colleagues. They are hurting and miss her and she and her big heart can never be replaced. There has been a Go Fund Me page set up in her honor to help with the expenses and all of us here at Higgins Family Brands will never forget Fatima....never 💔

On December 23, 2023 we held our first Breakfast with Santa and WOW what a great time. Many families were able to get those great pictures with Jolly Ole' Saint Nick. We then wanted to spread cheer to our neighbors outside in the Historic Downtown District and Waterfront and talk about a good time!!!

We walked down to the beautiful City of Beaufort children's playground and mannnnnny young people told Santa Claus what they wanted for Christmas and gave him tight hugs. All of the smiles and laughs were worth it all. Thank you Beaufort for making Blackstone's Cafe the best breakfast and lunch restaurant in the Lowcountry. Merry Christmas from all of us here.

We want to say a big thank you to one of our daily regular guests for the last 10 years, Mr. Henry Ensley of Beaufort. Henry is here almost every single day enjoying our delicious breakfast and laughing it up with pretty much everyone.

Henry is a ton of fun and never meets a stranger. Henry is a retired businessman who is now a self-proclaimed Purveyor of Comic Books, Bubble Gum, Sling Shots and Marbles. He is our resident House Detective and we have a custom made badge on the way for him 🙂🙂🙂🙂

Last night we had our staff Christmas Party. We had such a great time and shared a ton of laughs, built lasting memories and drew closer like family.

Eddie, who is our Sandwich Chef, spoke more last night than he has since he started with Blackstone's Cafe years ago. Eddie is awesome and a great person every day. Head Chef Tariel was super fun and we saw his calm non-chef side which is rare but he is like the Grandad of our whole bunch and leads us to work as hard as we can.

Ali our General Manager looked stunning and made us laugh and showed us that she cares for all of us deeply. Kitchen staff Michael and Jason looked dapper and made us all crack up non-stop.

Servers Colleen, Carol, Veronika, Pressley and Liz made the party so much fun and had us laughing all night long. HFB Ops Mgr., Chandler is always laid back and cool and one of the best in the business. He busts his tail everyday and always has a great attitude and desire to help all of our staff.

Lead Server Kari Ann brought her infectious laugh and heart of gold and was bussing tables for us because we all matter to her and that's who she is. Hostesses, Jocelyn, Talia and Isabelle were the most fun bringing massive smiles and tons of laughs with the Nerf guns and Tariel and Liz pelted each other with over 1000 nerf darts...🤣🤣🤣 Tariel won btw!!!

Congratulations to Cook Michael (Big Mike in Pink Shirt) for winning Employee of the Month and being awarded 1 full paid day off. Michael is a machine and always fills the kitchen with humor and hard work. We are so happy to work with you every day.

These are some of the most caring and genuine people you will ever meet. They each have a desire to care for each other and our customers and to be with them is a breath of fresh fun air. If you want to know great people, come here and meet them. They wake up early, go to bed late, cry for each other, help everyone, do their best and never stop. These are succesful people who are resolved and amazing and care about our brand and its customers.

Each of you matter to me more than you know and owning this historic restaurant for almost 1 year has been nothing short of amazing...not because of the sales, walls, flags or food, but because of YOU.
