National Youth HIV/AIDS Awareness Day ( ) is dedicated to highlighting the impact of HIV/AIDS on the lives of young individuals, advocating for improved access to care, and promoting preventive measures to end – and HIV stigma.

Today is National Youth HIV/AIDS Awareness Day National Youth HIV/AIDS Awareness Day (NYHAAD) is dedicated to highlighting the impact of HIV/AIDS on the lives of young individuals, advocating for improved access to care, and promoting preventive measures to end HIV – and HIV stigma.

Legacy honors the life and legacy of Ryan White every year on 8 April. As many of our community know, A young Ryan inspired the HRSA (Health Resources and Services Administration) to create the Ryan White HIV/AIDS program that bears his name. On this day in 1990, Ryan died at the age of 18 - five years after contracting HIV/AIDS from a blood transfusion.

Congress passed the Ryan White CARE Act shortly after his death, cementing his legacy. We cannot forget the discrimination that individuals living with HIV/AIDs HIV/AIDS sufferers faced in the 1980s and 1990s before legal and social barriers began to fall.

Because of his example and generous federal support, Legacy is able to administer comprehensive care and critical medical and support services to low-income individuals living patients with HIV/AIDS. Regardless of our community’s ability to pay, they will find Legacy remains a safe space to receive holistic and compassionate empathetic care.

We honor Ryan on this, and every day.
