Watch this video of a quick side by side comparison…… - Pitching cues such as use your legs only work so much. There are several issues here from lack of mobility, tight abductors, organizational issues, lack of awareness, or lack of strength.
Pitchers it’s important to understand your back leg…..as we work to create space don’t rely on the front leg to accelerate you. The back leg is your power source. This athlete over uses the front leg to create energy and the back leg rotates inward causing the hips to go up. Use this exercise to gain strength in the ankles and legs.

Field Day : We understand we have thrown all summer, but we controlled the distance to focus on movement pattern. No Ball Drills - To focus on being Fast w/o the goal of actually catching the ball. To adding the ball to challenge them once they harness the ability to move with confidence. Then Communication Drills w/ Machines.
We teach kids to swing the bat as if it’s apart of the body. Here is a simple awareness drill to help the young ones. 1. When we come in contact with the baseball make sure the bottom of the hand (pinky finger) can be worked up through the middle of the field as it turns up. You remember when coach used to say, “PALM UP” this is what we are talking about!!!!! Why? So we are not training the kids to roll over. The video below shows the athlete wants to push the pointer finger and go straight to a roll and then he corrects it. 2. At contact work to keep the hand down. The hand will continue to work through the pattern described above. The head will remain down and then start to work behind the ball. If you have young ones at home this is a simple warmup drill they can do at home. If you really want to spice it up have them watch a baseball game and challenge them to do the drill every time the batter swings. The contact of your hand to ball has to match the contact of the batter to ball. ***Dont break anything in the house. SORRY MOMs *Post Videos and Tag GTSA
