On behalf of Acclaim, we would like to send our condolences and prayers to the Love and Young families. Sandy, was an essential part of of our Acclaim family. Sandy, had attended Acclaim for several years and will remain in our hearts. As her family would say, “Acclaim is her other home.” Sandy, will be missed.

Today is World 🌎 Senior Citizens Day. This day aims to raise awareness of the issues being faced daily by older adults, like health, deterioration and elder abuse. It also addresses issues that are related to our elderly, such as healthcare access, economic security, and social isolation.

Today, seniors are still active in their communities as well as continuing to have a strong presence in the workforce. For all they do and have achieved for the good of their communities, senior citizens deserve our thanks!

Acclaim Senior Activities Center sends our condolences to the Wiedlund Family due to the passing of our friend Bob. Bob brought joy and good conversation to the Acclaim family and just recently celebrated his 94th birthday. He will be remembered.💐

Gradual adjustments with our seniors during daylight saving is essential. How can caregivers lessen the negative effects of sundowning of their loved one? Seniors with Alzheimer’s and dementia benefit from a structured daily routine. Ensure that meal times, medication schedules, and other activities happen at the same time each day, even after the time change. This includes maintaining the same bedtime every day to reset the body’s circadian rhythm.

Today’s treat was strawberry 🍓 shortcake 🍰😋Our clients enjoyed celebrating National Strawberry Day 🤗2 even requested extra cool whip and of course I obliged as always😂I’m going to miss them so much 🥹

First, we would like to extend a multitude of gratitude to you, our caregivers, clients, family members and community for choosing Acclaim Senior Activities Center to provide Adult Day services to your loved ones. Over the past 4 years of providing such essential services, we have become family and have operated as such. The meaningful relations that were developed have allowed us to grow as a team and collaborating caregivers. We, the owners, do not take this role lightly and have poured everything into ensuring that we provide optimal care for our seniors and your loved ones. The passion we have in our hearts is nothing short of what should be expected. We pride ourselves on providing the upmost communication, expertise, professionalism, and effectiveness. We have in return received the same from you and we appreciate it wholeheartedly.

Moreover, after a lengthy and well thought out decision, we have come to the inference that it is time for us to end our tenure as the owners of our Beavercreek’s location. This decision by far did not occur overnight. It required lots of thoughts, prayers, and direction.

Lastly, we are pleased to announce that our program will continue to offer the necessary services as before. The new company, Acclaim Health Services will begin offering the same resources beginning on March 1, 2024.

Today we celebrated National Puzzle Day!
Puzzles and puzzle-like games are great for those living with Dementia and early, middle and late-stage Alzheimer’s disease. Puzzles for the elderly with dementia provide comfort and potentially ease some of the symptoms of the disease as they are a wonderful distraction that can be done alone or as a group activity. A puzzle gives one a simple tool to connect, improve quality of life, and enhance relationships.

Here at Acclaim, we are excited that we provide structured activity programs that assist with slowing down the progression of Alzheimer’s disease or even improving the cognitive function of this individual.

Today, is one of our favorite days! It is National Pie Day, and Acclaim will indulge in a delicious mouthwatering apple pie 🥧 with a scoop of vanilla ice cream 🍨 We plan to make everyone’s tummies happy today🤗

Recap of November!!!!
November brought so much joy and entertainment to our clients of the Center. Their happiness means so much to us, as we enjoy making a difference everyday and promoting a healthy and enjoyable environment for them.

We partnered with the local food pantry and received lots of donations to feed the needy. Birthdays were celebrated. Our clients were entertained by the Beavercreek Lions Club, while enjoying the dessert bar and crafts that were provided. Our clients thoroughly enjoyed making handmade cards for the Veterans who reside in the Assisted Living across the street from Acclaim. We enjoyed our catered Thanksgiving meal and have had a blast decorating the Center for the holidays. We are so grateful for all the joy our clients bring to our lives, as we leave everyday with a smile on our faces🤗

Today, one of our clients asked “What is my job today?” I explained to her that I needed help sorting and organizing food goods for our “Food Drive Giving”🥮🍚🥟🥫🌽🫑🥦🥐🍞🥯She was ecstatic to help and more importantly she understood what Acclaim is doing, is for a good cause and THIS was very rewarding for her🤗

Acclaim is more than an adult day care center, it is a place that allows our clients to utilize their therapeutic self through purposeful activities.

Optimizing their level of independence is Acclaim’s main goal for all our clients 😄

We have only one more week to collect items for our food drive!! Feel free to drop any donations off at the center😀

Acclaim will spend the month acknowledging and celebrating National Family Caregivers Month🤗Caregiving for someone with memory loss is exceptionally demanding. Alzheimer’s caregivers are often managing multiple conditions, including gradual loss of mobility, emotional issues, and behavioral and personality changes.

Please stay tuned for tips that will be offered by our very own Gerontologist on how to properly care for your loved one who is living with this condition.

Help us help families in need this holiday season! We will be collecting items for the FISH food pantry in Fairborn beginning November 1st. Each year, FISH provides Thanksgiving meals to nearly 700 families in our community 🤯 All of us at Acclaim are excited to help further the cause.

You won't want to miss this informative event. Great excuse to get out of the house, socialize with your peers, and learn a thing or two. The fact that there will be snacks sure doesn't hurt either 😉

We're gearing up for Halloween around here and have been getting into the spirit by creating festive treats and decor! We love to see the talent and creativity of our clients 🎨

Happy Birthday, October babies! This month we are celebrating Gary and Starr. We are so thankful to have them in the Acclaim family!

The clients were busy bees 🐝 yesterday. They put their creativity to work making pumpkins out of beads and pipe cleaners! Some were taken home and others were left to decorate our welcome area. Aren't they adorable?! 🎃🍂

We put the clients to work making their own lunch today! They each made their own bagel pizzas, which was a great opportunity to exercise their fine motor dexterity as they scooped and spread the sauce, sprinkled the cheese, and carefully placed mini pepperoni.

Offering a variety of fun, failure free, and purposeful activities is one of our top goals here at Acclaim. It works out even better when we can achieve that AND a delicious pizza at the end! 🍕🤤

This past weekend a few of us participated in the “Walk To End Alzheimer’s” This event demonstrated unity, love, and determination to find a cure to end Alzheimer’s disease! The staff and family of Acclaim walked for our clients who live with this disease and family members who had succumbed to such a debilitating illness. We will continue to fight until there is a cure.

Our hearts are filled with love from everyone who helped donate to this cause and all other contributions. We thank you!!
