💚 Beavercreek City School Staff Spotlight

🌟 Staff Spotlight: Corey Massarelli! 🌟

Meet Corey Massarelli, our dedicated, gifted intervention specialist at Parkwood, Trebein, and Valley Elementary! With 14 years in the BCS family, she brings a wealth of experience and passion to her role.

She has many memories throughout her career but especially loves the senior clap-out events. "It has been such a joy to see former students walk the halls and to have the honor of cheering them on and congratulating them on their graduation. The looks on their faces when they see all the students lining the halls and clapping...and when they see former teachers and are remembered and embraced and celebrated...it's just priceless!"

When we asked her who had been most influential in her career, she said, "How can I just pick one?" It all began with my own first-grade teacher, Mrs. Hokanson. She is still, to this day, my favorite! That year, I decided I wanted to be a teacher when I grew up. My mom and my grandma were also teachers and huge inspirations to me. All three had a deep love of children and an enthusiasm for learning that overflowed into me."

In her 24th year of teaching, Corey is also grateful for her colleagues who guided and supported her journey.

Corey enjoys family time, reading, DIY projects, and cheering on her kids and students in extracurricular activities outside of school.

She is proud to be part of the Creek family and loves working with Beavercreek students, families, and staff.

"Beavercreek means the world to me personally, as my three children have been blessed to be Valley, Ankeney, Ferguson, and BHS alumni. Our teachers truly love and care for the children of our community, and it's a gift to witness every day." 🧡🖤

🍕 Pizzaaa with a Teacher was a huge success!! All funds raised will be donated to Gang of Seamstresses here in Beavercreek. Thank you to everyone for your student's participation in this fundraiser! -From Valley Teachers and Staff

☘️ Valley Elementary celebrated St. Patrick’s day on Friday with an assembly where they got to watch a local Irish dance group! So much fun to watch ☘️

Pi Day!!

What better way to celebrate Pi Day than with a little bit of competition and a pie in the face?

Students at Valley Elementary in Mr. Minnich's class had an absolute blast testing their math skills and competing to see who could memorize the most digits of Pi!

Ivy S: 147 digits
Liam T: 125 digits
Allison W: 105 digits
Paisley F: 70 digits

Mr. Munnich celebrated the student's accomplishments by taking a pie to the face! 🥧

💚Pastries with parents was a HUGE success!! The donuts were so good that we ran out right at the end, the pastries were amazing and the coffee was much needed!!

Also, we want to thank our volunteers and committee…. Mallory Skidmore for organizing the whole event, as well as Hillary Needham, Julie Smigel, Hannah Johnson, Jessica & Jason Bolin and Alexandria & Michael Mount for all their help!

💚 We spoiled our wonderful Valley staff with a soup and salad luncheon with the help of some amazing Valley parents!! We appreciate all of you and our Valley staff raved about all the yummy soups and salads!

Match 2024 PTO News

Last week, some of our buildings embarked on a thrilling Read-A-Thon adventure, while others are gearing up to kick off theirs this week!

Principal Chivington made a grand entrance by riding in on a horse during an outdoor assembly – and yes, she even planted a kiss on the horse! 🐎 Plus, students had an opportunity to interact with one of the three horses brought over from King and Country Farm. It was an unforgettable experience that sparked enthusiasm for reading throughout our school community! 📚🌟

📣 What’s been happening at Valley?!

I’m sure your students came home last week and told you about how their principal, Mrs. Chivington kissed a horse at school and they weren’t lying

🍕 𝗣𝗜𝗭𝗭𝗔𝗔𝗔 𝘄𝗶𝘁𝗵 𝗮 𝗧𝗘𝗔𝗖𝗛𝗔𝗔𝗔 𝗙𝗨𝗡𝗗𝗥𝗔𝗜𝗦𝗘𝗥! 🍕

Valley will be having their Pizzaaa with a Teachaaa fundraiser lunch to support the Gang of Seamstresses. A flyer was sent home with your student with more information on this fundraiser. Students will purchase tickets for 50 cents each from their homeroom teachers. The ticket sale will go from Monday, March 11 to Friday, March 15. At the end of the sale, one ticket will be drawn from each container and the winners will get to eat a pizza lunch with their chosen teacher on Thursday, March 21.

⭐️⭐️Today at Valley Elementary, 3rd Grade presented their animal research projects to their peers and families. They worked very hard and it shows!! Great Job 3rd Grade!! ⭐️
