The Veneto enchants me. The people, the food, the wine, the vibe,scenery, lakes, Venice. It’s all pretty freakin’ cool. We even have an ex employee living here, HA! So we’re heading to the area northwest of Verona, where the five fingers of ridges come down out of the mountains and create the world of Valpolicella. Famed land of Amarone, Soave, and Ripasso, close to Romeo & Juliet’s Verona, just around the corner from the stunning Lago di Garda, this is the Fratelli Tedeschi winery. Not be be mistaken with the Tedeschi Winery in Napa nor the one on the slopes of Haleakala in Maui. No, the one in ITALY.
Please join us for lunch on 13 June here at MiNGO, hopefully starting on the patio weather permitting, with Riccardo Tedeschi. The wines are a direct import here in Oregon with Todd Bacon (ABC) and have enjoyed fantastic repute in various restaurants and retail shops over the years. We will be focused on his numerous levels of Valpolicella sandwiched between a Soave on the front end and his Amarone at the back. Remember, years ago I became a Cavaliere di Amarone in this same area; I believe this afternoon with Riccardo will be a comparable window into the world of valpolicella. Martín and I will provide the food, venue and graciousness, Riccardo will be here with character, stories and wine, we ask that you come with a lively spirit and lots of questions for him.

Spiedini di Gamberi ~prawn and crouton skewer; chili flake, fennel seed with a mingo salad. Perfection…
Today’s Risotto: Seared scallops, saffron with toasted fennel seed on top.

It’s a veritable pool party on the patio! Pull a chair on up to that crystal blue water -I mean table- and soak up the sun with a nosh & a cool beverage.
…So this happened Thursday…spring sips, TVE, flights of rosè for the next 10!days…delish!!!

Just one example of our daily specials… When special is the only way to describe a dish… potato gnocchi, soft enough to be little pillows (assuming you don’t like those crazy firm memory foam pillows, because that would just be gross), tomato cream sauce, and crispy, salty spec on top…
A red wine described as feminine? I’m in! Red, drinkable, entirely approachable. Not your thing? There’s lots of other options by the glass…
