Rogue was recently in the news representing the great State of New Hampshire in the space sector.
Rogue Space Systems positioned to service space-based economy GILFORD — When Rogue Space Systems formed four years ago, the startup had an audacious concept and a need for as much capital as it could collect to bring their
Rogue Space Systems Corporation announces it has been selected by SpaceWERX, the innovation arm of the U.S. Space Force and a unique division within AFWERX, for a SBIR Phase II award, valued over $1M. This project is focused on enhancing Space Domain Awareness (SDA) through Autonomous Multi-spectral Resident-Space-Object Identification and Characterization (SAMRIC) to ensure the safe and sustainable ex*****on of In-Space Servicing and Manufacturing (ISAM) operations. In late May, Jon Beam attended New Space Nexus’s State of the Space Industrial Base Conference in Albuquerque, New Mexico. It was a content-rich series of keynote speeches and one-on-one conversations with various folks in the US government. In addition, Jon participated in several substantive workshops where the group collaboratively characterized the state of the current space marketplace, described its challenges, and made recommendations to industry and government space leaders. Jon was able to both represent Rogue Space Systems and CONFERS while there!
On May 15-16, 2024, Jon Beam and Catherine Collins joined with over 300 attendees at the COSMIC Convergence 2024 Conference to continue to build momentum toward making In-space Serving, Assembly & Manufacturing (ISAM) a routine part of space architectures and missions. There were some great keynote speeches and collaborative exercises and activities. Jon and Catherine contributed to sessions related to ISAM Testbeds, ISAM Technology Taxonomy, Mission Use Cases, and Education.
While on a whirlwind Conference tour out West, Jon Beam and Catherine Collins visited our friends at Arizona State University. We spent a lot of time with Scott Smas and Dr. Keng Hsu. Dr. Hsu showed us his lab where he researches techniques for “cold welding” which could be revolutionary in space due to the low size, weight, and power requirements of his technology. Scott also showed us all around ASU where we were incredibly impressed by the huge contribution that ASU has made to the world’s exploration of space! ASU NewSpace Space Technology and Science Initiative
Back in mid-May Jon and Catherine traveled to Utah for the COSMIC Convergence and SDL RPO Safety Workshop in Logan Utah. On the way there, they were able to visit the engineering lab of Dr. Jake Abbott at University of Utah. He and his graduate students are studying the rotation and translation of non-ferrous objects via rotating magnetic fields using their patented Omnimagnet technology. They gave us some very impressive demonstrations and showed us how magnetic fields can detumble objects with impressive effectiveness! We look forward to bringing this technology into the space marketplace to be able to detumble space objects as a precursor to servicing them or removing debris from orbit.
Rogue is excited to welcome our newest intern, Ms. Fiona Ireland. Fiona is a mechanical-engineering undergraduate student at Northwestern University. She is deeply interested in outer space activities and the potential for innovation and exploration. Fiona is excited to join a rapidly developing industry and to help ensure that the growth is sustainable and efficient!
Rogue will be at the COSMIC Convergence and ISAM Safety Workshop in Logan Utah, in mid-May. We hope to see you there as we shape the future of In-Space Servicing, Assembly, and Manufacturing! Please come say hello if you see Catherine and Jon there!
