The Music Land family is sad to share that long-time repairman William (Bill) Linderborn,Jr. (father of Gary) passed away peacefully at age 91 at home surrounded by his loving family. Known for his support in the community and church, playing the banjo, RV adventures, and skills in electronics and carpentry, he lived a fulfilling and robust life.

A memorial service will be held on July 20, 2024 at St. Matthew Lutheran Church located at 1200 E Churchville Road, Bel Air, MD 21014. Visitation from 10-11am, Service at 11am-12pm, followed by lunch in the church great hall.

A personal note from Music Land owner, Larry Noto....

I've just learned of the passing of Bill Higgins of Bill's Music in Catonsville.

A sales rep once told me the "Godfathers of the music industry in the region were Bill Higgins, Chuck Levin and Joe Noto (my father)." When my father passed away in 2015, Bill personally reached out to me and became a friend. He would send me notes and emails. He would congratulate me on certain accomplishments. He and his wife personally came to see the store when we renovated. We sat and talked at NAMM. His team and I would run inventory to each other to make a customer happy. I once referred a guitar sale to Bill's and he personally sent me a card and an Outback gift card.

A class act all the way and his small gestures meant a huge amount to a younger businessman trying to fill the shoes of his legendary father.

To the Higgins family... I feel your pain. Walking into that store without seeing him. Seeing the tears of your customers. Hearing their stories. Saying goodbye to your Dad.
May the thousands of posts, comments and stories you're about to hear over the coming months comfort you with the knowledge the spirit of your father will always be kept alive.

As the world moves to online shopping and big box corporations, may we all remember men like Bill.... and Chuck... and Joe. What they did for local music, students and their communities. There is nothing like walking into your local music shop and talking music.

God bless Bill Higgins, the Higgins family, the Bill's Music team and their customers.
