"This Court further grants Plaintiffs' request for reimbursement for the Orton-Gillingham trainings and other methodological trainings that Plaintiffs had to provide to teachers at schools outside of the District."
"Defendant shall reimburse Plaintiffs in the sum of $456,990.60."
Wrightslaw Note: This sum does not include the requirement that the school reimburse the parents' attorneys fees as prevailing parties or the school district's attorneys' fees.
Question: How many teachers could have been trained in the Orton-Gillingham method, and how many children would have benefited from having trained teachers, for half a million dollars?

Great quote from Tim Tebow! What do you think? Let us know in the comments.
Tired of the same prompt when reading with your child? Try these instead of "just sound it out".
1. ***Name the letters in the word*** - by naming with the letter name, this resets the brain and eye coordination to take another look. It requires a different part of the brain to activate which is different when a generalized prompt of 'sounding out' is used.
2.***Check the Vowel*** If the misread is only due to an incorrect vowel, use a specific prompt to let him know where to target.
3.***Put your finger over the suffix*** This prompt is used when the suffix gets in the way. Look at the base word.
Sometimes a combination of these prompts are needed.

I am grateful for VC's legacy. Everytime I open one of his manuals or play a grammar game, his enthusiastic voice comes through loud and clear. Too soon my friend!😥
“Syntax lost its exclamation mark.” - Jan Wasowicz
On Tuesday, April 20, 2021, the literacy world unexpectedly lost a phenomenal educator and great friend to many. William Van Cleave made learning fun regardless of who the student was, and the impact he had across the world is immeasurable. While he presented on many topics, William always said that syntax was his superpower. His colleagues would tell you that he had many superpowers. As a way to honor them all, we have created the William Van Cleave Memorial Scholarship Fund. https://www.cdl.org/williamvancleave/

Many people don't know just how widespread is!
Due to the continued uncertainty of school closures into the fall of 2020 and beyond, we have made the decision to extend the free use of Flyleaf’s online materials portal through the 2020-2021 school year. We hope that this decision will bring you comfort and continuity of instruction going into the future. Many portal users have approached us asking whether they should allocate their funding toward an online subscription to Flyleaf’s materials portal, or toward Flyleaf’s printed materials. Knowing that our online materials will remain available free of charge through the 2020-2021 school year, you may allocate your funding toward printed materials without losing online access. Yes, you can have your cake and eat it, too!
Please be assured that we are working to develop a permanent solution for an online subscription to our materials, and we will not take away access to our materials portal until we have an excellent solution for you. Our dedicated Flyleaf Team is working to create online materials that are as beautiful, meaningful, and pedagogically sound as our printed materials, always with you, our users, in mind. Please join our email list so we can keep you informed of our progress on this front, and let you know as soon as we have a subscription option available for you. Please know that we continue to be here for you during this extended period of uncertainty.
