Revision deep plane face and neck lift was performed along with the lower blepharoplasty and the fractionated CO2 laser resurfacing to address my patient's goals. Dynamic wrinkles were softened with neurotoxin injections. Previous surgery was overly aggressive in liposuction. Skin necrosis behind the ear left a large area of widened scar. There were residual ptotic buccal fat pads and submandibular glands, both of which usually become more saggy and visible with age. She was also bothered by a few permanent internal sutures that had become too close to the dermis of the skin of her cheeks. If we never try, we will never know, how far our courage takes us! This is not a pitch to get people to have surgery, and in fact, changing your appearance will not bring happiness! Undergoing cosmetic surgery is a personal decision, and I don't think anyone should feel pushed in any way. They should only do it if and when they feel 100% comfortable that they want it. However, if we constantly live in fear of "what ifs" we may never make that decision, or any decision in life. What if it doesn't turn out perfectly? What if there is a complication? What if it's too much of recovery for me? What if I'm not happy? All these questions are normal and should be asked, but once they are logically and reasonably answered in our minds, then it's up to us to find out (or not find out). I know it can be daunting! I personally had cosmetic surgery (and revisions too) on me, so I know how that feels... even still my nose isn't symmetric or perfectly shaped by the definition in the books, but I don't regret it because my decision gave me freedom to feel more confident.
