Bhargavi Bharata Natyalaya and Sri Narthanam School Of Arts
Bittersweet goodbyes, it’s always sad when a student you’ve taught for years moves away. But a relationship with a true Guru is lifelong, and forever.
I still speak to my students from 5 years ago and that connection and Guru Sishya bandha will always exist even if the student no longer learns from the teacher. ❤️
In the words of my students..
A teacher is someone who teaches. But a Guru is a friend who inspires and instills passion, love and ambition in students.
Introducing mudras, uses and expressions from the gecko is essential to developing the mindset of looking at the world from the eyes of a dancer.
To teach is to love and inspire.
Winter project artwork by my students, Saisha and Smriti. 🥰
Whom are you thinking about, Krishna?
Is it Radha, the mellifluous?
Surrendering her heart to you,
She worships you with flowers.
I do not own copyright for this soundtrack.

Yoga and meditation 🧘🏾♀️ ❤️🌺
As summer break comes to a close and the school begins to open again, I’m so excited to have my dance and music kids back. From the intellectual questions they ask in class to their beautiful playful smiles eager to learn, I’m really looking forward to having the school back in session again.
A few updates: in alignment with safety protocols and due to the delta variant, classes will continue to be held online until the students are also all vaccinated and protected against covid-19.
In addition, the curriculum will begin with a short assessment and a project for each batch in order to realign with goals and levels as necessary.
Looking forward to having you back soon!
Sri Narthanam School will be closed for summer vacation from July 1 to August 31.
Classes will resume the second weekend of September.
Have a great break, kids!
The school will be closed for holidays on Memorial Day weekend. No classes on May 29th and May 30th!

Gurus are beyond just teachers. They guide you, they teach you, share their experiences with you and spend ample time and energy bestowing all their knowledge to you.
But above all, a good guru becomes a friend
Dance is my rock in my life. If I’m happy, I dance. If I’m sad, I dance. If it’s rainy, I dance. And like today, if it’s snowing, I dance 😍
Margazhi special.

My student, Aishani, depicting the role of a Abhisarika Nayaki.
As her husband finishes his meal, the nayaki helps to wash his hands and he tells her to wait as he is going out. She sends him away and then gets ready to secretly meet her lover and asks him to come inside.
Challenge in this exercise was for her to not get up and remain in a seated position for the duration of Abhinaya.
Why do you teach?
Teaching Bharathanatyam fills my heart with a kind of blissful sensation that is simply inexplicable.
Answering my students’ questions, delving deep into conversations on theory and origin, feeling each sensation and emotion of abhinaya while letting my students get creative; enhancing their minds and influencing them through guidance and love. Letting the choreography flow through the soul.
This is what moves me, drives me, makes me feel intense emotions and drives the passion further.
Each individual artist’s experience is divine and teaching dance enables me to give this gift to so many others.
That’s why I teach. And what I truly enjoy doing.
