🚶Come to the Market for a Cool, Summer Stroll 🚶 Imagine you’re halfway done with a snowy, winter hike on the slopes of Mt. Rainier. You’re hungry and tired and cold, but instead of pulling out a half-frozen protein bar, you get to take a minute and pull a still-warm samosa out of your bag. The crispy outside, and the hearty filling of potatoe...
Welcome Samosa to Bellevue Farmers Market for their pop-in this Thursday!
Leena and Vikas Tomar started their business, Seattle Samosa, with the idea of making high-quality, authentic samosas at home after seeing the meager options of frozen, inauthentic samosas available in stores. The major ingredients in their samosas, like the potatoes for their Punjabi samosas and the paneer for their Spinach Paneer and Paneer Masalas flavors are sourced from local farmers. The spices that they need to keep the flavors authentic are imported, to maintain authenticity. As the business has grown, they've expanded from the original vision of authentic flavors to also include some fun, experimental flavors on their menu inspired by different regions of India, South Asia, and other parts of the world.

Who is Eitan? By day, he's making flexible circuits that go into medical devices, but by the evening, he is who we affectionately call our "shed magician." Like many of our wonderful BFM volunteers, he's a regular part of how our tiny nonprofit runs on a weekly basis. Kirkland-born Eitan, however, hold a special place on our volunteer team. Over the last six years or so he has been a BFM breakdown volunteer, he has taken ownership of figuring out how to collapse our market equipment and supplies into a very compact shed with the efficiency of a Tetris Grand Master! Thank you Eitan for your weekly dedication to the Bellevue Farmers Market!
Do you have a favorite food truck you'd like to see at Bellevue Farmers Market? Or know of a baby food truck that is looking to grow? Did you know 14 farms closed their operations in Washington state every week during the last 5 years? Sadly, this data from the U.S. Department of Agriculture reaffirms the precariousness of agricultural life. By buying directly from farmers and ranchers, at markets like BFM, you're giving them a better return for their produce and meats, and the ability to compete against large agribusiness.
