Professor Unnikrishnan S is generating astounding results with FieldView.
"In this Office of Naval Research supported work, we try to understand the unsteadiness and three-dimensionality of shock-wave/boundary-layer interactions over axisymmetric bodies. Such interactions exist in high-speed air vehicles, where curved surfaces are often encountered. Three-dimensionality and unsteadiness induced by such interactions are relatively more complex than well-studied two-dimensional interactions. Understanding these fundamental flow physics can help us improve the design and control of supersonic air vehicles."

In this fascinating case study, Dr. Haibo D**g's team at Wright State University created a detailed 3D numerical simulation of a dragonfly in free flight. The first video clip shows a dragonfly taking off. The black spots on the wing are 0.5mm ink markers that help track exact wing positions when creating the 3D shapes using films shot from different angles. The second clip shows an exact full-body 3D reconstruction of the dragonfly, including body motion and wing deformation, created with Tecplot 360. Read more: https://okt.to/TGYPaM
