It’s officially “I have to take my flower pics inside because it’s dark all the time” season; I know my plants need this season of rest, but at what cost 😭
I met SO many amazing flower friends this season, but I don’t think I’ve actually introduced myself online. My name is Emily and I’m the owner of Thorncrest Rose Farm! I moved to this area with my husband in February 2020 after graduating with a degree in Climatology. Great timing, right? 🙃 Needless to say, I struggled to find a job at the height of the pandemic. When I became pregnant with my first baby, I realized I probably didn’t want to continue searching for a 9-5 job, and decided to take a huge leap to follow a passion I have always had for flowers. I started this farm after seeing a hole in the local flower market; finding local roses is SO difficult, and I’m hoping to help reduce the number of imported roses our local designers need to use! I can’t wait to see what beauty the future has in store for us!
I’m already having flower withdrawals since we aren’t harvesting any more this year 🫠 I’ve gotten so spoiled having fresh roses in my house every day. It’s going to be a rough winter. We need a greenhouse STAT!
What an absolutely incredible first season! While our roses are still blooming, we are letting our plants (and ourselves, let’s be honest 😩) rest and will not be cutting any more stems to sell until the spring. We have SO MUCH coming over the next year! This first season was a baby step and it went better than I could have ever imagined. Even though it feels like it’s so far away, I am so excited for our next season; get ready for armloads of beautiful blooms!
P.S. I will still be posting here throughout the dormant season!
Our Lady of Guadalupe has the sweetest pink sprays 🩷
Yesterday was rainy and grey outside, so I had to take my flower pics in my kitchen; probably going to start happening more often over the next few weeks 😩 this beauty is Ashley! This is one that we grow in larger quantities because she’s just so perfect 💕
Pretty pretty pinks 💕
Beverly Ann Clay is turning out to be my favorite spray rose. Swipe to see what a single stem can look like (I couldn’t even fit the whole thing in the photo. There are three more flowers I had to cut out of the pic 🥹)
These White O’Haras are as big as my entire hand! The roses are absolutely loving this cooler weather 🍂
Distant Drums showing off her amazing color progression; can you believe these are all the same type of rose? I love how much it changes as it matures, and each new stage is just as beautiful as the last!
Y’all. This is ONE STEM of chiffon. Get out of here 😭 I cannot wait for next year when we will have armloads of these babies!
This is White O’Hara and we love her 💕
I guess we are basically doing a rose of the day at this point.. today’s favorite is Classic Woman! So vigorous, super long stems, beautiful fragrance, decent vase life, huge blooms, do I need to say more?
Rouge Royale is the most perfect red ❤️❤️ I don’t grow red roses in bulk because they aren’t popular for most of the growing season, but I’m thinking of adding some more of this one in the future! Great for fall color palettes!
Princess Charlene being the showstopper she is in my front garden (yes, I have a massive number of roses at my house in addition to the ones at the farm 😬)
Lots of pink ruffles today 🥰
Rainy weather won’t keep me from admiring my roses, but I’m really looking forward to the return of some sunshine next week! This is a beautiful David Austin climber that I grow at my house, Wollerton Old Hall. Not a super long lasting cut flower, but it does look beautiful in a bridal bouquet (and smells SO GOOD!)
My first Joan Fontaine bloom that didn’t get eaten by deer 😩 she’s a beauty!
Harvesting some bright punchy colors to remind myself that it’s still summer on this grey, dreary day 🍉
One of my favorite roses we will be growing on the farm.. Chiffon! 😍
My little flower child wanted to pick all of the pink roses; a girl after my own heart 💕 (let’s just ignore all of the w**ds, I’m spending this week working on w**d control, definitely not the most glamorous part of owning a rose farm 🙃)
The wildflower meadow at the farm is just starting to bloom 🌼 I can’t wait to see it in its full glory!
Ok I know I’m posting a lot of single flower pictures lately… but look at her!! She deserves to be singled out! Peony magic 💕
One day I will remember to take pictures AFTER I finish the bouquet before I hand it off… one day. So here is an in progress bouquet pic until that day comes!
Ok if you waited until the very last minute here is the very last of my Mother’s Day stock! 4 mason jar arrangements with garden roses, poppies, Ranunculus, butterfly Ranunculus, chamomile, and jasmine or clematis ($30 each) and one small wrap with all of the above plus delphinium ($35). Come get them!
