I worked with City of Seattle and Seattle PUD in their raingarden program for several years. The concept was to mitigate runoff into puget sound by capturing roof water and sending it to a raingarden which in essence was a man made depression in the yard filled with native plants and biosoil to filter water and send it into the aquifer.By tipping gutters to desired exit points water was run in 4" pvc pipes either underground or under a faux stream bed to the raingarden
