Class Library - 3 Oms Yoga We are sad to close and we hope you will keep practicing yoga. You are welcome to access over 20 of Amy’s recorded classes for free. Amy is on sabbatical for a few months and this website isn’t being maintained regularly.
To my beloved 3 Oms Community--I miss you and being in the space that we co-created together, breathing and moving in synchronicity together and the OMS and hugs. I wrapped things up at the studio, with many tears and gratitude.
I'm headed to Spain to relax with my family and then hike the Camino for a solo pilgrimage.
I hope you are able to maintain your yoga practice and I have over 20 free classes on the website to help support you. Enjoy and see you on the other side!

Tears and smiles as we close the doors of the studio. 💜💜💜
Since we announced that 3 Oms Yoga is closing on March 31st, many tears have been shed by our incredible staff, our community and me. I feel sad that I had to make this heart-wrenching decision to close. I take refuge in the words of one of my favorite spiritual philosophers, Ted Lasso, “I want you to be grateful that you’re going through this sad moment with all these other folks. Because I promise you, there is something worse out there than being sad and that is being alone and sad.” We are feeling sad together, grieving the loss of this community and practicing yoga together. https://www.3omsyoga.com/posts/closing-letter/
We can feel sad that it’s over AND glad that it happened. I’m gazing at the memory wall that we created together this month in gratitude and awe of the stories, reflections and photos of the hearts opening, healing, awakening and the community connection made. As I reflect on these past 20 years of teaching yoga in Bellingham I see flashes of all the beautiful souls who have walked through these sanctuary doors and I hear echoes of the thousands of Oms we have chanted together. Just as the resonance of the Om echoes on, so will 3 Oms Yoga in our hearts and community.
I hope you are able to continue with your yoga practice. Our staff is searching for where to continue teaching and you can find them on social media when they land. I am taking a sabbatical for a few months and part of that time I’ll be a pilgrim hiking the Camino de Santiago in Spain. When I return, I will contemplate what’s next for my life and this beautiful space.
To stay connected we will keep the website, email and social media pages while I’m on sabbatical (but I will rarely be checking them). We will no longer have MindBody or access to the member library but I have posted several of my classes for free on our website for you to access. Thank you for being part of this cOMmunity, I love you…OM, OM, OM…..

In this workshop we will explore the intersection between yoga and neuroscience, and experience how when blended- can enrich our life and yoga practice. We will learn about the Vagus nerve and the “Ventral Vagal State” – which helps us alter the state of our nervous system from one that is disregulated and reactive to one that is calm and connected to ourselves and our environment. The practice will include basic breathing techniques, specific somatic relaxation, and familiar yoga poses.

In her four-week Skill in Action Series, we will explore:
⭐️ What you need to create this practice and stay engaged in the work of creating conditions for our collective liberation
⭐️ How we have been socialized to uphold systems of oppression, the kleshas (the root causes of suffering)
⭐️ How spiritual practice is an antidote to systems like white supremacy, what our dharma is at this time
⭐️ How to hold one another accountable as we work to create a just world.
Each session of the series will include meditation, self-study, movement, pranayama, large and small group discussions.

Anxiety is one of the most common challenges of our modern culture, and during these uncertain times we have all been touched by the experience of anxiety at a variety of levels. Manifesting not only as internal symptoms such as excessive worry, agitation, fear, and restlessness, many people also experience muscle tension, fatigue, sleeplessness, and other physical sensations. The ancient wisdom of yoga is here to help! Because anxiety affects your mind, body and spirit, yoga offers a variety of tools to address the whole being. Yoga postures help relax muscles and build confidence. Breath techniques soothe the nervous system, decrease heart rate and improve digestion. Meditation and mantras calm the mind, and can help redirect it from stressful thoughts. These tools are woven together in this afternoon workshop, giving participants simple, practical techniques to recognize and reduce anxiety.
Cost: $45 // $40 Members

I invite you to come and spend these coming months with us to CELEBRATE one another, the relationships we have built and the gifts we have all received through Yoga. -Amy

OM OM OM.
✨Cat’s Daily Sadhana ✨
My Sadhana includes lots of "off the mat" daily rituals. I practice mindfulness meditation for 10-15 minutes, right when I wake up. While my tea kettle is coming to a boil, I practice Jiwah Prakshalan, or tongue scraping. I also perform ablutions to help balance my vata nature with oils. Then I turn to the neti pot (sinus rinse) for another kind of cleansing. My tea choice is herbal, with the addition of cow milk, to encourage the kapha that I lack in my constitution.
Now it's time for my longer meditation practice! This Red Tara practice is from the Tibetan tradition. I committed to this prayer/visualization/chanting through a ritual called empowerment, and I believe it has upheld me well these past 20 years. I keep a candle lit through my meditation, then through the āsana that follows, keep it burning as I prepare a grounding breakfast, and eat it as mindfully as I can! I do not have any devices or reading materials at the table and just focus on eating, or maybe gazing at the flowers on the table, or the little birds outside my window.
Teaching yoga is a practice I have enjoyed since 1996, and I am always enriched by sharing the teachings of the yoga sutras, along with other philosophies and poetry I love to study. Articulating the movements is an art, along with coordinating these instructions with the theme of the class, such as surrender. I prepare for my classes through my own exploration of my body, mind, heart, and the pulse of the culture around me.
As I walk to and from the studio, I engage with nature, studying the stream that runs along my path, the birds in their activities, and the array of unexpected characters I pass on the street. I try to keep my heart open and my back strong.
I am delighted to meet with clients one-on-one for yoga therapy sessions, helping them explore their life challenges through a yogic lens. I listen deeply, reflect what I've heard, and help draw out support practices as a collaboration with the client. I craft practices for them to address mental, emotional, physical and spiritual issues. I have a cleansing ritual I perform after each client, of simply washing my hands and wishing them well.
I make art. This means a million things, and currently I am kind of addicted to a knitting project, where I'm knitting a birch tree! It's all a big experiment, and this is probably my favorite framing for everything I do now: it's an experiment, not an arena to judge my character or skill, but to experience life more deeply. Art making taps into the same part of me that I find in meditation and forest bathing. I can feel very alive, unafraid, and in a state of wonder.
I say a blessing before I eat. The form varies, but a favorite practice is to acknowledge the miracle of each ingredient and the way it got onto my plate. I then commit to using the energy that I'm about to ingest to do good work in the world.
I spend time alone. Two nights each week I say no to everything and everyone else, and yes to me. This has proven to be deeply enriching, balancing, and grounding. It is the act of self-love that has been missing all these years.
We still have a few spots left for the upcoming sound bath, with Kristi Moseley! This Friday, Feb 10th. We are looking forward to seeing you there!
For the month of February, we are sharing our daily Sadhana practices. We hope you glean some inspiration! Do you have a Sadhana practice?
“I find peace in chanting a mantra. This has been my most consistent practice for many years. Sitting and using a mala can be helpful, but I often just chant while walking or in moments of stress to calm myself. A simple mantra is Ma Om. You could spend a lifetime studying the meaning of these sounds, but the feeling can be summed up as Love and Light. “ Katie
Amy will focus the Sunday morning classes on the chakra system throughout the next two months. With each class recorded, we've got you covered if you miss a week!
Chakra literally means "spinning wheel." According to the yogic view, your body's 7 chakras are a convergence of energy, thoughts/feelings, and the physical body. Our consciousness (mind) gets projected through these wheels, and this largely determines how we experience reality from our emotional reactions, our desires or aversions, our level of confidence or fear, and even the manifestation of physical symptoms.
Working with these 7 energy centers in yoga practice can unravel any blocks that may prevent the unfolding into our highest potential.
