Happy Valentine's Day! My clients have taught me many lessons in my Elder Law practice over the past twenty four years, but one of the most important is about love. I have worked with couples who have been together for over 50 years. I often meet them when one of them has to go to a nursing home or assisted living. For them, it is not just about protecting assets, or estate planning, it is about being there for a sick spouse. I have seen their heart break, while they love and support each other. It can be a very difficult time, but I also see the great love and strength they have and the beautiful families they have created who are there to support them.
