"I am the living bread that came down from heaven. Whoever eats of this bread will live forever, and the bread that I will give for the life of the world is my flesh" (John 6:51).
Ever-loving God, your Son gives himself as living bread for the life of the world. Fill us with such a knowledge of his presence that we may be strengthened and sustained by his risen life to serve you continually, through Jesus Christ, our Savior and Lord. Amen.

On this coming Sunday, the gospel reading from John 6 speaks in graphic language about eating Christ’s flesh and drinking his blood. But we aren’t cannibals. Come to worship, and discover how we can receive the meaning of these words.
Today we honor Mary, mother of our Lord.
"My soul proclaims your greatness, Lord; I sing my Savior’s praise!
You looked upon my lowliness, and I am full of grace.
Now every land and every age this blessing shall proclaim—
great wonders you have done for me, and holy is your name" (ELW 251).
"Christian community is not an ideal we have to realize, but rather created by God in Christ in which we may participate." (Bonhoeffer, Life Together, p. 13)
In Session 3 of the Bonhoeffer Book Study on Life Together, we look at the difference between emotional love and spiritual love. Only within Christian community is spiritual love possible.

"O taste and see that the Lord is good; happy are those who take refuge in him" (Psalm 34:8).
Gracious God, your blessed Son came down from heaven to be the true bread that gives life to the world. Give us this bread always, that he may live in us and we in him, and that, strengthened by this food, we may live as his body in the world, through Jesus Christ, our Savior and Lord. Amen.
This Sunday the gospel reading from John 6 contrasts death with life, a life that comes from eating Christ, the bread of life. Come to worship to receive Christ and so, John says, never be hungry again.

"Let us build a house where love can dwell and all can safely live, a place where saints and children tell how hearts learn to forgive. Built of hopes and dreams and visions, rock of faith and vault of grace; here the love of Christ shall end divisions: All are welcome, all are welcome, all are welcome in this place" (ELW 641).

O God, eternal goodness, immeasurable love, you place your gifts before us; we eat and are satisfied. Fill us and this world in all its need with the life that comes only from you, through Jesus Christ, our Savior and Lord. Amen.
This coming Sunday the gospel reading likens Christ to the manna that God miraculously sent to the nomadic Israelites. Come to worship to eat this bread; welcome Christ into your heart. Jesus promises that filled with him, we will never again hunger.
Thank you everyone for a great afternoon at the ballpark this past Sunday! ⚾️
On Sunday, Pastor Tony began a two-month weekly book study on Dietrich Bonhoeffer's "Life Together." An online version will be posted weekly on our YouTube channel as well. This week is an introduction to Bonhoeffer and some of the events and history that led him to write "Life Together."

Thank you OSLC members, Judy and Max, for reflecting God's love through service to the family of God.
"When peace like a river attendeth my way, when sorrows like sea billows roll, whatever my lot, thou hast taught me to say, it is well, it is well with my soul" (ELW, 785).
May God bless you and keep you tonight. 🙏
“Thank you, gracious God, for the gift of this coming night. Restore me with your right spirit. Calm my mind. Quiet my heart. Enfold me with your bountiful mercy. Protect me from all harm, that I sleep assured of the peace found in you alone. I ask this in the name of Jesus, who gives us rest. Amen” (Evening Blessing, Bread for the Day).

Gracious God, you have placed within the hearts of all your children a longing for your word and a hunger for your truth. Grant that we may know your Son to be the true bread of heaven and share this bread with all the world, through Jesus Christ, our Savior and Lord. Amen.
Beginning this Sunday, Pastor Tony leads a book study on Dietrich Bonhoeffer’s Life Together at 9:30 am. All are welcome to discover how this twentieth century martyr continues to both guide us in faith and inspire us to action.
For the next five Sundays, our gospel readings will focus on Jesus as the bread of life. Come to worship, to hear and to eat.
O God, powerful and compassionate, you shepherd your people, faithfully feeding and protecting us. Heal each of us, and make us a whole people, that we may embody the justice and peace of your Son, Jesus Christ, our Savior and Lord. Amen.
News from the Gathering: Day 5 (Saturday). We are Created to be Disciples. Worship was amazing. I'd say our group witnessed something incredible and God worked through the 16,000 gathering participants. Our youth are excited to share their journey.
Pray for those traveling home today. 🙏
News from the Gathering: Day 4 (Friday). The theme today was "Created to be Disruptive!" We started our day with a scavenger hunt through the French Quarter, which brought us through neighborhoods, finding cultural, artistic, and historic clues as we learned about this incredible city. Of course we stopped and tried the famous beignets! In the afternoon we had our Synod worship and then wrapped up our day at the mass gathering. Definitely feeling God's presence!
KIDS CONNECT IS TOMORROW!
Children will join their parents for worship at 10:30 am. After the Children's Message students will join Ms. Kellie to learn what it means to “be fishers of men.” All are welcome!
